Anyone think about switching Surg docs??

I am new here...have lurked for a couple months on and off.  Decided to do this RNY because I am 38 with borderline diabetes, borderline hypertension, pcos, 42bmi,etc. Went in Nov. for first class and meet Dr. Inman at St. V Carmel. Than had psych appt a week after, in which I really did not like that guy at st v's.  Well found out last week I was denied, I have Unicare, by the way, because of not having 18 months.  I have been to my doc for 14 months and on meds during that time, plus 9 years weight (ob/gyn).    Now I have been trying to get a hold of colleen at Dr Inmans office (as she is the one who does the paperwork) for 4 days leaving messages to get back with me so I know what was sent in my packette because I need to appeal asap, they only give 30 days, so by the time I received my letter I have like 12 days to appeal.  Well I still have not heard back.  I want to know if St V sends any info right away about the 6 month law that is stated for supervised weight loss.   I am seriously thinking of going somewhere else. I see all these folks that get a surg date within a month and I was told it would take at least 3 months for a date because the are so busy. I went there because I heard good things about dr inman, but if they are just to busy than I really need to go somewhere that I am just not a number to them.   I am not to happy with there carmel facility anyway, it takes 2+ hours before you finally get in for your appt, and the waiting area isnt even busy. My appt with the psych I waited for over an hour then the secretary calls me up to fill out more paperwork ( umm, I have been sitting here how long now ) got that done and waited another allmost 40 minutes.  No wonder my psych appt was frustrating.   I just dont know which way to go.  I need answers from the office, but looks like I will never hear from her in time.  Anyones thoughts on St v, Unicare, and give me more info about the 6 month law, do the Insurance companies except it?    Should I seek a lawyer? if so, who?
Thanks for any help........Keri

I know that things happen in God's time.  I also know that ST. V's does fill out submissions based on the information you give them.  They have done well over 10,000 surgery's with 1 million lbs lost.
It may not be time for you.  Please step through the hoops that the insurance wants you too.  The rules are the same for all faciliites so changing is not going to do a lot.
I know that approval once sent to insurance usually takes only 10 to 14 days.  Dr. Jones is scheduling in Feburary for people that submitted in December.

Again take you time.  This is not a quick fix.  You will spend the rest of your life still trying to stay at a good weight.  You can and some do gain weight back.  You need a great attitude.  I sense that the Psychologist brought out things that need dealt with that you may not agree with.  Again maybe he is right in his assesment.  Give that a thought.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou has done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

Thank you for your input E, but with the psych..he didnt bring out any issues from the past, he was just kinda a jerk.  He was to involved with wanting to know everything in childhood and nothing of right now. He was upset that  I was a healthy child and very active with training and showing horses consistently, he kept asking what size I wore when I was growing up and he kept asking me several times...it was irratating.  I was not obese, so I  didnt sit in front of a mirrow looking at myself and I think he thought that I should have been.  I didnt become obese until I started having children 9 years ago. I have tried to take the weight off but some would come off and then come right back on again.  I just figured he should have been more interested in family history ( which he didnt ask me on) and know that grandparents and father are all gone due to diabetes/heart disease. My mom is the only one here yet because she had the gastric done 30 years ago and is still healthy.  I only ask about changing because I do read how so many others get in right away and dont have to wait a few months for their surgery, I dont think it has anything to do with " its not my time"  well, yes it is, been obese long enough and my health is deteriating fast, I get very dizzy and that now because of the diabetes, etc. Plus I work nights full time and it all works into play with cutting my life short if I dont do something. I want to be around longer for my children and not be gone before 65. I look forward to getting this weight off and getting rid of the diabetes so I can ride and train horses again plus get back into body building that I use to do 14 years ago.  Just try not to suggest next time like everyone has child issues, because not everyone does.   Keri
