I HAVE ANTHEM INSURANCE AND I WORK FOR THE STATE

HAS ANYONE BEEN APPROVED WITH JUST THE DOCTOR'S NOTE, PYCH EXAM AND MEDICAL PROOF FROM THE DOCTOR OR DID YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE 6 MONTH DIET

PROGRMA?

I work for the state and had to do the 6month diet. I know that some people have not had to do the diet. I think it is kind of a crap shoot. Have your doctor submit your paperwork and see if they except it or tell you to do the 6month.

If you have to do the 6month diet it is not too bad. I just saw my Doc every month and she noted that we discussed diet and exercise. I didn't lose any weight during that time. I did end up with a new diagnosis of diabetes and was started on medication. I sure that helped with my approval. I have been off of medication since the day of surgery and my sugar levels are great.

You may want to talk to your doctor about starting the 6months now just to get it going. Good luck.

I had Anthem YRP group for Indiana.  It went thru without a hitch with no 6 month diet deal.  They seem to have pretty simple exact criteria.    I had no problems with any of it and was approved within 6 to 8 weeks total.

Good luck!

I have Anthem insurance through the state and I was approved without the 6 month diet.  I did have several comorbiddies though and had records showing where I had done well over a year and a half of weigh****chers.

My suggestion is to go ahead and try to get approval from the insurance company without the 6 month diet.  In the mean time I would start the 6 month diet thing with your PCP just in case you aren't approved without it.

Best of luck!

I have Insurance through the state as well and when I started my process in December of '07 they required a 6 month diet at the time.  In March of '08 they updated their policy and no longer required one, but I went ahead and finished mine anyway.  I finished it in July.  Got approved August 1st, and I had surgery November 19th.  Overall the Insurance was very easy to deal with.  I got approved in about a week.  Alot get approved faster than that.
