It would be safe to say there are days I'd like someone to shoot me and put me out of my misery when my cycle hits! My family avoids me because I annouce I've become an
!
Funny thing is since my surgery I couldn't remember to take my BC pills -- too many to remember so I switched to the depo shot. Much lighter now and less painful...thank GOD!
Best advise, call your OB your weight loss would change your cycle, patterns, etc. Keep a little journal or log of the problems and sit down with the Dr. I've had female issues for YEARS and my Dr is used to me bringing a journal/list of problems.

I have definitely experienced a change, but I think I have the opposite problem. Before surgery I never had periods unless I took medication to make me have one. After surgery I was spotting all the time but no real period to speak of. I saw my gynecologist to talk about birth control options and he made me take my meds to have a real period.
I had a normal cycle and then tried taking the pill for a month. The pill doesn't work for me post-op so I was waiting to start my period again so I could have an IUD inserted. Finally had to take meds again to have another period and finally got the IUD in and now I spot every....single....day. It's so frustrating. It gets heavier every 3 or 4 weeks (must be a normal period at that point) but I am so over it. My body doesn't know what it's supposed to be doing!
Sorry this was such a long post....the short answer is that it is VERY common to have changes in our cycles post-op. Especially while we are in the rapid weight loss stage.

i dont feel so stupid now. i started the day of my surgery ( oct 3rd) and had a period for 19 days... that is right 19 days!!!!!!!!!!! i had one like a week and a half after that (beginning of nov) and have now not had one since. i asked the NP when i was there friday, thinking it might have something to do with loosing the weight or whatever... she said normally it makes people have them more regulary and heavier (which i do not need heavier). She told me to call my obgyn ( which i have endo and some otehr problems) but i need to call and make an appointment there. :( good times!
I know you posted this a while ago, but I just was going threw the posts today. I have been on time every month except this month, I was suppose to start on the 10Th, and didn't start until the 21st, but I too was cramping for the whole two weeks before! I have never done that before, I had my tubes tied almost 23 years ago, so I was pretty sure I wasn't pg, but since I have been so normal I thought maybe I was finally going to stop having a period, no such luck, and this one has been a real pain, really heavy and painful. So I guess there is something with the whole wls that may be to blame. I haven't lost a lot of weight yet, so not so sure that is it. Take care, and let me know what your obgyn has to say.
