One month check up today!!
Had a check up with Dr. Evanson today and my first dietician visit this morning!
All my restrictions have been lifted, and I'm off and running!
He said I had exceeded his expectations for my weight loss thus far, and was very pleased. From my post surgery weight (I use that, because I did have to lose that extra fluid weight!), I am down 33.4 pounds (according to my scales, I'm down 35, but that's nekkid - I wore jeans and a T shirt to the doctor). Using my weight the morning of surgery (pre surgery) I am down 27.4! Yippee!!
I have permission to advance my diet, and I am to stay at 2 ounces per meal for this next 4 weeks, but I can use a hybrid of the foods that allowed for the next two months.
I went to see the dietician - She was thrilled also. I was so excited - not everything need be pureed. And, I can have crackers!!! I had for lunch crab salad that I made with canned lump crab meat, RF mayo, and sugar free pickle relish with 4 crackers. The crackers count as the 1 ounce starch.
She also mentioned I can have chili. That's something I've been craving! I asked about the tomatoes - she advised to slowly sip on tomato juice - if that acidic juice doesn't bother me, I can have tomatoes. So, I slowly sipped on a 5 oz. can of tomato juice, and it set just fine.
I also can have SF jello and broth between meals. I am so jazzed!! I just really wanted variety and the act of chewing! After enjoying my feast of 1 ounce of crab salad and 4 crackers, I am stuffed!!!
I also bought a pork roast and plan to cook it in the crock pot tomorrow. She suggested using the crock pot to keep meats moist. I bought some SF carb free BBQ sauce at Meijers (Walden Farms brand), and after the pork is done I can add BBQ sauce to mine and have pork BBQ!
I can't have lettuce yet, but I do have permission to advance my diet in accordance with the yellow sheets without contacting them first. I go back in 3 months.
Dr. E expects that I will lose 70% of my excess weight. He said if I continue as I have been, it will probably be more. He mentioned a goal weight of 150. That's too high, so I'm setting my goal weight lower. However, I will be screaming and doing the happy dance once I get to onederland! You all will hear me from one end of Indiana to the other.
So - it's been a great day so far, and I have my first post op support group tonight as well!

Getting to eat real food is a nice change after so much liquid.
On the cracker front.... I found some crackers from Special K that are low in carbs. They come in 2 flavors... Italian tomato herb and mulit grain.
17 crackers per serving has: 90 calories, 17g of carbs, 1g of fiber,5g sugar, and 2g of protein. They were my saving grace on New Years Eve.
Thanks for posting and letting us know all this great news Christie. Again, I am so happy for you. Can't wait to meet you woman!!!
Blessings to you all, Leah
