Happy Thursday
Good Morning all,
Enjoyed having dinner with Bill and Sherri, Lisa and Neil, Gail, Scott, Shanna, Terry, and Bella last night. It was just what I needed.
It doesn't look like Brenda will be coming home on Friday as the doctor said the other day. He put her on liquids Tuesday night, but all liquids are making her nauseous. She is doing better, but yesterday he said we're going to slow down abit. Yesterday her potassium bottomed out, so they're giving her those hugs pills to take and also giving it in her IV. Yesterday he told her, "I don't usually tell patients this, but if you had waited until Saturday to come to the hospital, you wouldn't be alive today." This past week has sure opened our eyes at how lucky we are.
Thanks to Tracy for doing the daily prayer post. I believe everyone's prayers is the reason we still have Brenda to post about. Brenda and I are so amazed at the outpouring of prayers and concern by everyone, even people who have never met her. We love you all so much.
Well, I'm off to the hospital before I go to work. It snowed last night so I hope the roads aren't too bad. Everyone be safe.
Love,
Floyd

Morning everyone!
Made it to work pretty well this morning. The only bad spot was Keystone (431) guess with the road construction running WAY more than projected Carmel doesn't have funds for salt trucks. The stretch between 131st and 99th streets were slick in several spots. Soon as I crossed in to Marion County the roads were great. Even 465 was really good.
Floyd, sorry to hear about Brenda's set back. I am so glad you took her to ER when you did. I hope she is doing much better today. I'll try and get up to see her again. She is so special and so are you my friend. Take care of yourself so that you can take care of Brenda.
Sherri, hope you are doing better today. I just pray that the doctors can find your problem and fix it, but I'm sure not half as much as you are.
Tracy, I too thank you for the prayer postings. Prayer is the best thing we can all do for each other.
More of the same at work today, so best get to it. I hope everyone has a good day, be safe, be blessed.

Good morning everyone!
Back at work..again! But it is my Friday so cool beans! I didn't have any problems with the road or traffic coming in ~5. Even the snow on my windshield came off easily with the brush instead of having to scrape. My throat is still sore but it's not as bad as it was yesterday. I noticed last night that I have a bruise on the tip of my nose from where they had that tubing in place. No wonder it's been hurting so much to blow it. I also have a place on my stomach that is broken out from the glue on the monitoring pads they used on Monday. It's lighter this morning than yesterday but you can clearly tell I had a reaction to it.
Floyd, I agree. Last night was just what I needed as well. I think it surprised Scott a little bit..it was the first time in a long time that he has seen me in the evening hours so he was surprised at how I really do look pregnant. lol. Both of you, please try not to get too worried about Brenda's set back. Based on what happened to me, I would say that it falls in line with having the intestinal blockage/inschemia. I remember having injections of phenegren..and alot of that was because the pain meds I was on could/would cause nausea. It seems like Morphine was the biggest instigator. We'll be there after I get off tonight to see Brenda for a little bit. I don't want to wear her out. I know. She still tries to be a perfect hostess even in a hospital bed! lol. So...I will try to be a perfect guest and not stay too long so she can get her rest & heal. We'll probably be there ~5 or so.
I do think it's wonderful the prayers that this board so willingly offer to God on all of our behalf. I'm certain that if it hadn't been for them that I would have never made it through that initial 6 hours on Tuesday. I'm also very certain that if it hadn't been for many, many prayers that I would had never woken up from the coma ordeal. So people...your prayers are so very important!
Many huggs...

Good morning all!
I am glad to have the update on Brenda. I am sure that things will go better for her soon. It is better to have this ordeal with her potassium at the hospital than to get home and have to go back. We will continue to pray for her.
As for the comments about the prayer post each day, thank you. Please give God all the glory. I do it because I thought it would be a quick reference point for those who want to pray for others. I hope that everyone on the boards can see the power of prayer. I appreciate those who post requests as well.
Today is going to be another day of job seeking. I am gonna do some paperwork to apply for a couple more positions. I can't believe I have been without a job for 2 months today. I hope to find something soon. Things are getting rough for us.
Everyone be safe on the patchy slick roads and have a great day!
Huge Hugs,
Tracy

Floyd - You and Brenda have done so much for everyone here and have been such blessings it has been an honor to pray for you guys.
Sherri - I sure hope they figure things out for you soon.
Eta - Tracy I'm hoping you find a job soon. I know how bad it sucks to be without a job I've been without a real paycheck for 2 stinking years.
AFM - Today I see another doctor (I'm getting tired of docs and dentist appts) and then have support group this evening. Next week I have a PCP appt, dental appt, eating disorder clinic appointment and another dental appt. To add to it I woke up with a terribly sore throat and feeling crummy this morning. Germy people at walmart yesterday was coughin and sneezing all over me and everywhere it seemed. :( I carry hand sanitizer and wipe the carts down but it wasn't enough. Yuck.

Hello everyone. I'm having a great day. A good friend came over this morning and brought her kids to play with my son. They all had a great time and I had some nice adult conversation from a wonderfully supportive friend. She brought lunch for the kids and dinner for my family. It's been very wonderful to have such great friends and family who love me and support me through all this stuff.
I am very much looking forward to the Plainfield support group meeting tonight as I will get to see some of my OH friends whom I've never met. It will be my first one since my surgery.
Saying prayers for everyone!

Hang in there, Floyd. We're all pulling for you and Brenda.
I haven't been able to keep up on the message board very well as I've been working crazy hours now that I'm interim postmaster at my office. It's a challenge keeping up with that and my business, but honestly, all I have had to give up is sleep...!!
Have a great evening, everyone!

Good evening to everyone. it is nice to read what you all are up to daily and get an idea of what my life may be like in a short while. As for now, I continue to struggle with my protein and have been having more nausea the past few days than I have since surgery, no vomiting but feeling an uncomfortable nausea a lot of the time.
I went to the St. V support group Tuesday night and it was good for me to see so many newly post-op patients and how they were doing. I am trying so hard not to compare my weight loss numbers to other people, but I worry that I am losing slower than I should be. I am trying to boost my protein and fluids and walk more to see if that helps at all, and not get too hung up on numbers since I know I can be successful at this and lose, even if it takes a long time! I guess the weight didn't come on quickly, so it will be coming off at it's own pace.
Have a great night everyone. I am off to read a book and enjoy some high protein hot chocolate!

Jenni,
Welcome to OH and welcome to the IN board. Congrats on getting through the surgery. These next 4-6 weeks are going to be the roughest. After that, it's usually pretty smooth sailing. Many people have a little bit of lactose intollerence post-op. For some, it goes away with time. I think mine lasted for ~3 months. You may want to try switching to a lactose-free skim milk and protein drink. Your dietician can offer suggestions as can members here on the board. Trying to get all of your protein, water, and food in can be hard enough for a newbie without adding nausea on top of it.
Don't worry about the pounds. Unless you totally blow off the sheets the dieticians gave you, you WILL lose the weight! Don't compare yourself to others. There are alot of factors that come into play with weight loss. Sure, PEW (Protein, Exercise, Water) has ALOT to do with it but so does age (younger usually loses faster), gender (males usually lose faster), getting enough sleep, how much overweight are you (someone who is 200 lb overweight will lose more rapidly that someone who is right at 100 lb overweight). Just do as you were instructed to and all will be fine. Don't forget to take your vitamins. They are crucial for your future health!!
