Question about Dr. Huse surgery stats

Hello All,

I have noticed that some posters are stating their doctor has performed so many surgeries with only this amount of deaths.   I never asked Dr. Huse what his stats are.  I know he is considered one of the fathers of bariatric surgery in Indiana so he is really good.  I just want to know his stats.  If you know them could you please reply to this message.

When I had my initial consultation with Dr. Huse, I asked him that question. Although, he didn't give me an exact number, he said his statistics were in line with the average. Which if I'm not mistaken, he said 2% death rate.

I have to say as a patient of his, I have the upmost confidence in him.  I have been one of the fortunate ones and haven't had any complications.  He's been fabulous.

Stats can be misleading.
Dr Huse has been doing this surgery for MANY years, some years before the technique was perfected.  He also handles many difficult patients (very high BMI, dire co-morbidities, etc) that some other surgeons might refuse to work on.  These things will contribute to statistics and may skew them in a negative way.  You are best to ask what his recent (past two years) stats are or ask what he believes your chances are based on your size and relative health.
I have only heard good things about Dr Huse.

Don't know stats, but he handled my perforated ulcer surgery in July last year. I thought he was a good doctor.
