Can't say from experience, but I would think after a couple of months you'd be good to go.

I had my RNY in 11/06. In 3/07, I started horseback riding lessons, a dream of mine. By that time I had lost enough weight, that I didn't fear I would squish the horse! I took lessons for about six months and had a blast!

I was released from my surgeon to get back to all activites including swimming and exercising at 3 weeks post op.

Since they do the procedures (except the DS) laparoscopically now, you will recover quickly. I was released and back to work in two weeks. Of course, you will want to check with your surgeon first and foremost.

Good luck!

Hi
Dr. Cooper did my RNY too.  He released me to exercise after 6 weeks. And that meant lifting weights and cardio etc... so I would think you would be fine by then.  I was on a lifting restriction for a month.  We all have pretty individual results and that include recoveries too... so what might be ok for one person will be different for another.  So it may be something you have to play by ear.
Hope to get to know you better.  Have you thought of coming to the Seymour support group?
Blessings to you all, Leah
