Post op meds
Who tells us what meds we should continue at home--our surgeon or our PCP? I currently take 7 pills a day for diabetes, a blood pressure pill, diuretic, potassium, celebrex for arthritis, lipitor for cholesterol, and baby aspirin. also biotin and fish oil. Can I still take capsules even if they are oblong and longer than the width of an aspirin, like the fish oil?
Thanks, Terry

Terry, did you get your med's paperwork back from your class? They should have given you one that tell you what you can take and what you cannot the week and day before surgery. Then they will give you another when you are discharged telling you what you are to take when you go home. If you did not get one from the class you need to contact them first thing Monday morning. There are certain ones you cannot take the day before and others the week before.
You probably have some idea since you are a nurse. But certain things they say, can cause complications with dehydration, bp, and that sort of thing.
I just wanted to share too, that I was off 6 of my 7 meds the day I came home and never took them after that. Now, I am totally med free! Woo Hoo!
Good Luck and I am excited for you! You are on the countdown!
Huge Hugs,
Tracy

Thanks Tracy---yes I kinda figured on my own what I thought I would be taking but wasn't sure who would give the official word. THey did give us the list of what we could take preop and the day of, just wasn't sure about the postop. Yes, it is getting close., Thought it would never get here and now that it is it is coming very quickly.
Thanks for all your advice. Terry
