GUAR GUM??? Where do you find it???

This is needed in the recipe for the s/f syrups- does anyone know what it is and where to find it? Thanks- HUGZ Dawn

Can't help find it but wanted to post and say how funny it is the things we do and eat now that we've had this surgery.  Guar gum?  It's probably some african fern that cost $110!

Guar gum can best be described as a natural food thickener, similar to locust bean gum, cornstarch or tapioca flour. Guar gum is said to have significantly more thickening ability than cornstarch, at a fraction of the cost. This has made guar gum a popular additive in products such as puddings and ice creams. Until recently, guar gum was also an ingredient in non-prescription diet pills designed to create a sense of fullness. The dietary supplement Benefiber is almost 100 percent guar gum.


I got online and am checking with a few natural food stores down here to see if they either carry or can get it. Also sizes and prices. Will let ya know....I love the recipes though!

So let me get this straight in my head.. Dawn wants Guar Gum for a S/F syrup recipe AND Lee Ann found out that Benefiber is made with this...so won't this send you to the if you use too much of it? Kind of makes you go

Dawn, GNC website says they sell it on their label named Super Fiber.  You might check to see if that's what you wanted.
