Ok I think I have a big big problem. Our insurance has changed as of Jan 1, 2009. The new insurance does NOT cover anything to do with bariatric surgery, I had my surgery in October of 08 and my old insurance did cover my surgery.
The reason I think I have a big problem is--My first visit to Dr. Inman was in November and she charged for an office call which my other insurance paid. But now that I have a new insurance they will not pay this, there is no way that I can afford to pay these visits out of pocket, I know that we can see the nuts as often and as long as we need to, but I am assuming that Dr. Inmans fee did not cover her visits for the first year, I have an email in to Colleen Dr Inmans office manager to see if we can work something out but if not I guess I just will not be able to go back for my check-ups.
Has anyone else ever been in this situation?

Andrea,
I'm in the same boat (sort of). My previous insurance covered everything to do with my surgery. It was even going to pay for my plastic surgery when the time came up. The company my husband works for was bought out by another company in August so our insurance changed immediately. The new insurance doesn't cover anything to do with bariatric surgery. I got online and found out that Dr. Diaz (my surgeon) is covered by the new insurance though. I called and spoke to someone at the new insurance from the number on my card. She told me they would not cover anything. I had my one year surgiversary in November and explained it to the lady at the front desk when she asked if my insurance info had changed. I told her everything I was told. She said to give it a try anyway and guess what? The new insurance covered my visit! I don't understand it but count it as a blessing none-the-less.
My suggestion would be to call the number on your card and see if Dr. Inman is an approved provider. If so, it may cover your post op stuff.
Hope this helps! Good luck.
