Shakes are kind of hard to get just right because everyones tastes are so different. If you like chocolate milk or chocolate shakes, you might like shakes like I make. I use St. V's recipe... but it makes a large batch (it fills the blender). I use 4c 1% milk, 1c nonfat dry milk, sugar free chocolate pudding mix (between 1/4 to 1/2 of a small box) and about 6-8 ice cubes. The NUT told me this recipe gives you 65g protein! I make mine in the morning and sip on it all day long.
I've never had luck mixing fruit in mine because it either didn't have enough flavor (strawberries) or the flavor was overpowering (banana). I don't know if you are far enough out for it yet, but I did have luck making a pumpkin flavored shake. I added some canned pumpkin (pure pumpkin, not pumpkin pie mix) and SF vanilla pudding powder. Oh, and I forgot...I added cinnamon too. It was yummy (but I love pumpkin, so others might not find it appealing).
Try to think of your favorite shakes pre-op and find a way to make a protein shake similar to it with sugar free stuff. Or tell us what your fav is and we can help you put together a recipe to try. Shanna is especially good at concocting recipes, I'm sure she could give you ideas.
Hope you find one that works for you...I know it isn't easy!
