Grrr... got to buy a new vacuum cleaner....

Mine decided yesterday that it would no longer pick up pet hair.  I have 3 cats - two are short haired and no problem.  The third is a tri color tiger cat that has hair longer than a Himalayan!  (he's a gigantic puffball as he is also fat!)  And sheds worse than one, I'm sure!

So - Lowe's is just down the street...  my Lowe's card has a zero balance...  sounds to me like it is time to buy a new one.  Mine was a Bissell.  I am tempted to buy a Dyson all floor model since I could also use that in my kitchen.

There's a Bissell pet hair model - but one of the reviews said it quit working after 3 months.  Which is about how old my current one is....   so I'm a little leery.

What kind of vacuums do you all have??

I'm ready to go shopping!!!  (just gotta convince hubby now... lol)

I have a Dyson and love it! It picks up pet hair great. My daughter has a Husky mix and she sheds alot!  She (Amy) bought a Dyson and sold me and my son (Mark) on them and that is why we purchased them. I got mine at Lowe's. Check to see if they are offering a rebate on them. We got a $50 rebate.

LOVE my Dyson! I bought a new vacuum every 6 months until I bought the Dyson. I used a 20% off coupon from Bed Bath and Beyond and bought it when it was on sale. I know they have an Animal version that supposed to be really good on pet hair. I have an orange one (not sure of the model) but it's great.

I looked online at that animal version of the Dyson.  It's not UL listed, where the other models are.  I'm a little leery of that.  Still trying to talk hubby into it.  He says all we need is a new belt for my Bissell.  I want a Dyson!

You won't regret buying a Dyson. I swore I'd never pay that much for a vacuum. But when I added up what I was spending a year for vacuums, decided it was a good investment. Any of the Dysons are good I think, don't know anything particular about the animal, just mentioned it. Mine does a great job of picking up my long hair, and it's a lightweight version.

My daughter has a Dyson also and loves it- she has 2 long haired cats, and ahad a husky- talk about shedding!!! It is the one they advise for animal hair, & I have to say it is great. Hers is a all terrain ( atleast she uses it everywhere) and is great. Wanna shop fpr me, too? I'd love to have one, but we don't have pets, & DH does the sweeping since my back can't take it.
