another question.....

I'm 3 weeks out today.  I still have intermittent pain in the large incision on the left side, but not bad enough to warrant putting that nasty liquid Lortab in my mouth.

Today, I have that little ouchie pain in the incision area, and also in the same spot on my back!  When I woke up, I was sleeping on my side (I use pillows around my tummy area to cushion it in case as I know I am a side sleeper).  Combined, I'm pretty uncomfortable.  Other than that, I'm good - no fever, nothing else.

Anything to worry about?  Am I just being a worry wart?  I probably just slept funny,

Chris,

The large place on my left is where the pump drain was.  That is still a little uncomfortable...and the one on the left closer to the midline gets really ouchy after all day in my jeans, with the waistband rubbing it.  I do have wierd pain just to the left of my belly button..actually it has been numb and is just now starting to be kinda painful.  All my steri strips have been gone for a week  or more.  At the post op I was told I could sleep any way I liked and that helps me avoid pain from sleeping uncomfortable.

I start back to work tomorrow and I hope my elastic waist scrub pants don't cause too much discomfort.

I don't think  what you are feeling is out of the ordinary...might try to stay in a drawstring pant if you have one today....sometimes it helps to slip back into the binder if I get too uncomfortable...might try that for a day.

Christie, I am almost 2 weeks out and have had intermittent back pain like that. I've also had pretty significant left side pain when I'm laying on my right side. Dr.Inman explained when I was in the hospital that it's all the muscles stretching out again. I also thought the Lortab was toxic waste and quit taking it 5 days after surgery. I've dealt with the occasional pain. You could try some liquid tylenol if it's really bothering you.

Christie, one more question since we have the same doc. When your steristrips fell off the large incision to the left of your belly button, did you have a stitch string? Mine just fell off and I have a string hanging that I'm sure is part of a stitch. Haven't called the office yet, wanted to check with you.

Yep Melissa, I have one too!  I also had one hanging just to the right of the right side midline incision.  I thought OMG - did he leave something inside or what?  LOL.  I have one by the large incision also.  The one on the right finally dropped off or something, so I assume the left one will too.

Maybe it's how he ends his stitching, and when it falls off, he knows the stitches inside have healed too?  Who knows?
