Can I puree my own fruits/veggies in a food processor rather than using baby food? That way I could divide it up into the right size portion and freeze it? I have no sugar added canned fruit that has splenda. Just wondering? My babyfood containers are 2 1/2 oz. I waste quite a bit because I don't want to save 1/2 oz.

Sure you can.  I was tired of refried beans, and wanted some Great Northern Beans like I use to make ham and beans.  I put those in the food processor and pureed them and have been eating on them for a couple of days now.  Yummy.

Hi Melissa,

Some friends of ours *****cently had a baby have just started making homemade babyfood for their three-month old.  She can already take in more than me, Ha!  They took a can of unsalted green beans, steamed them, and then used the baby food grinder.  Since I now have a 'baby' pouch, they were generous enough to share.  I did add a little salt/pepper to the mixture, but I'll tell ya, those green beans were the best thing I've put in my mouth since surgery!  Good luck.

when I went to the 4 week check up I asked Dr. Jones if I could eat some veggies and she asked what kind I was wanting. I told her broccoli and she said to just chop it up fine and that it would be okay. so I steamed some and chopped it in like a mini food processor and added a little seasoning. It was so yummy and it really hit the spot. So go for it an just remember to chew if it is pureed. Good luck Melissa! I have been reading your posts and praying for you! Sounds like WLS hasn't been a piece of cake for you either! Michelle

You've already found the answer you were looking for...so here's an additional thought.

Throw away the last 1/2 oz.

It's okay to leave food on your plate.

It's okay to waste food.

You are no longer required to be a member of the clean plate club.

Forget all those things your mother told you.

Thanks Annette, I have been throwing it away, but baby food is expensive and I'm off work!
Just trying to find a few ways to save a few pennies.

Trust me, I understand penny pinching.  The biggest hurdles you will face in this journey is overcoming old habits and traditions that are so deeply ingrained.
Best wishes for LOTS of success!
