I messed up bad

I did not realize that I could not eat oranges and grapefruit, I had been fighting a cold and had eaten one or two everyday for about a week.  It led to an obstruction and eventual bowel perforation that landed me in the hospital for emergency surgery and recovery (if you can call if that) for ten days - ten whole days; I just got home yesterday afternoon.  The only reason the doctor let me go home was I was so pitiful.  I really wanted to go home.  Now I have the huge set back.  I am back to square one.  I have gained all this water weight from the fluids, I can barely move and feel much worse than I did after my actual rny.  I really blew it.  And I have this awful drain that I have to get out this week if they can fit me in.  I am trying to keep my spirits up but I want to cry.

I am so sorry you had to go through off of this. Wow... sounds so scary... obstruction and bowel perforation!!  I can't imagine how sore you are. 10 days in the hospital. You poor thing.  The water weight will come off sweetie. You need to concentrate on feeling better though.  Give your body time to catch up.
Blessings to you all, Leah

Ok - this was definitely a learning experience.  Now that it's done, don't be so hard on yourself.  You need to put all your energies towards getting better and regaining the ground you lost.

You can do this, and also pay it forward by reminding new post ops not to eat citrus.

Hang in there.  Cry if you need to, and come here for support.

I am sure you feel just awful.  A good cry just might do you some good.  But you can do this and make it a success.  You recover from this setback and start up again.  Like the song says "pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again".  Do what your doctor says.  Get better.  Keep your chin up.  I have faith in you.  You can do this.

I'm sorry to hear that. Were you at Carmel St. V's? There was a woman in the room next to me who went home yesterday too. Just wondering if maybe that was you? She stopped by my room and said Hi Neighbor. Hope you are feeling better now!

I am sorry you had this setback.  But the good news is that you didn't blow it!  You are going to move forward and do just great.  Water weight will come off as soon as your body starts to readjust and heal.  Take it one day at a time and you will find you will get better and better.

The drain is not fun... but on the other hand.... It's just a thing!  So take your pain med when you go to have it removed and you will do fine.

I know you can do this!  Look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you ARE going to make it thru this and you will do just great!  Attitude is key!!!

We will all be praying for you!

Huge Hugs,
Tracy

I guess a lesson to be learned is if you are a St. V's patient "Eat only what is on the yellow sheet"
There is reasons that the sheet exist.
Praying for you.

2 Chronicles 16:9
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou has done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
