Shanna.....a question for you

I have a question about some of your protein shakes.  I absolutely am having a major problem getting protein in.  If I can't get it in soon, I'm going to be in trouble.

My problem is that some of the things you use to make your shakes, I'm not allowed to have yet, such as the SF shortbread cookies.

I was concerned about some of the fruits, since I'm only allowed baby food fruit at this time, but in my book under protein supplements it does say blended fruit.  So I imagine throwing fruit in the blender is ok.

You're using Body Fortress powder - I assume it is the Vanilla?  I got some chocolate, and it is all I can do to gag it down.

If you are using only one scoop, then I would think I would have to drink more than 1 shake per day to get my proteins in as I'm on a full liquid diet.

I'm only allowed 2 ounces at each meal.  Some of your recipes call for half a banana - won't that be too much according to my plan?  Should I cut that down to maybe 1/4 a banana?

Anyway, any suggestions from you or anyone else would be greatly appreciated.  If I can't get this protein down pretty soon, I'll have to contact the nut at St. V's.

I'm doing fine otherwise!

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the nice Christmas card.  I have a card for you but It has not got into the mail yet. (sorry)  I have been pretty sick, I have to have a something scope on Tuesday, I can't keep anything down.  (hope my weight goes down) lol
Any how I had been making mine with1 cup skim milk 1scoop vanilla protein powder and 1 spoon sf pudding powder and put in blender or you can put peanut butter in it or frozen berries.  This will be 34g protein more if u use peanut butter.  you can add ice and then put into blender.

Sorry to hear you've been having problems, Sheila.  Be sure to have someone let us know how the scope goes.  You are most welcome for the card my friend.  I wondered if there was a problem as I hadn't seen you post lately.

I used the recipe we got in our pre op class of milk (I use Lactaid as I'm lactose intolerant), Carnation NF instant dry milk, and SF pudding powder.  I couldn't even gag it down.

You can have peanut butter?  I'm not allowed to have that yet, but then again, you are farther out than I am.  I'm just 18 days post op.  I feel fine, but know I'm going to have some problems if I can't start getting the protein down.

I'm cool on the vitamins and medications, I'm good on fluids.  But this damn protein is giving me fits!

I caution you about using a banana this early out.  Speaking from experience, I will say it really hurt my belly and it made me constipated when I tried a shake with a banana thrown in.  I mostly used SF pudding  and DeVinci syrups to flavor my shakes.  If you want a banana shake just use your lactaid milk, protein powder and banana flavored Sf pudding.   I think keeping it as simple as possible this early out would be best.

Hello,

I tried Shanna's shakes and became addicted, too! She did use the vanilla at the exchange! I use this as well! I am adding any of the s/f puddings, sometimes the jello flavors, s/f davinci syrups, yogurts, fruit, etc! I love choc/banana- with BOTH s/f pudding flavors! I also like the s/f cheesecake flavor with a splash of the s/f davinci raspberry! You could do s/f butterscotch, s/f lemon, my hubby's favorite is dreamsicle- with the crystal light sunrise pouch, I also love the peanut butter/choc, ! I hope that you are able to find one that you like! I know it was quite awhile before I could tolerate the protein drinks, although Sherri had me hooked for a while on the SHAKE a Whey's, they come in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, also! They were good, but I could only do them for a while and can no longer do them! I love the Body Fortress vanilla though in the bullet with some added flavors, milk and ice!

Good luck, keep trying, it gets easier!

Chris,

I too had a terrible time with protein.  I tried several different things and they all tasted like dirt.  I finally ordered some unjury, and it's been the only thing I can tolerate.  I get the unflavored and mix it with milk and sf choc. syrup, and while I get tired of it....at least I can still tolerate it.  I know you can't handle milk, so I would suggest mixing it with crystal light powder and water.  I hate smoothies, but it sort of reminded me of a smoothie (I used raspberry flavored crystal light).  I could tolerate that too, but I like the choc. milk much better.

You can get the unjury at www.unjury.com but since you live in Camby, and I have a shop in Camby, you could stop by if you like and I'd be happy to share a sample with you, so you could try it before you make that investment.  Just shoot me a message and I'll let you know when I'll be there next if you would like some.

I wish you luck girlie, I know I worried about the protein constantly, until I found something that worked.

Best Wishes to Ya!

Jenn

Ok - made a Wally World run.  Picked up Vanilla Body Fortress, some DaVinci Vanilla syrup, and some Banana cream SF instant pudding, and frozen strawberries, and even some SF Hershey's syrup.

I'm going to try for a banana strawberry concoction tomorrow and see how it sits.

I need to try to make something like Starbucks chocolate banana Vivanno.  I love those things.  I always asked them for an extra scoop of protein too and used to use them as a meal replacement.

Hi Jeanna - it's in the coffee aisle, right by the coffees and flavored creamers.  In my Wal Mart, it's on the top shelf.
