Depressed and feel off

I had RNY on August 11, 2008. So far I have lost 65lbs and I feel pretty good. There isnt a whole lot that I can eat that sets well, but I do fine.

The problem is, I just feel off. I feel unhappy about things that normally while they would make me unhappy I could deal with. I feel like right now my capability to deal with issues is zero. So I am great at ignoring them.

Could this be from hormones? Did any of you go through this and does it get better?

It could be hormones BUT I will tell you that I started dealing with severe depression about 5 months or so post op and mine continued to get worse. Now we know that I have a couple different labels with mental illness besides depression and anxiety and it's tough. They said they've been there forever but somehow just everything really boiled up and stuff.

My suggestion call and get set up with a therapist. Talk therapy works great, normally if they think you need to be on meds they will recommend that too. I go to Christopher and Associates and they are awesome. Right now my therapist is on maternity leave but the one filling in is just as great. If you need to talk feel free to PM me. If you ever want to meet up at the library or something like that and just vent let me know too.

I lost friends over having my surgery and everything and am always willing to help a newbie or whatever. Have you been to a support group?? If you want I can PM you my phone number if you need to talk too.

If you've had issues in the past you've dealt with by eating, and you can't do that anymore, you're going to feel the effects. Don't be afraid to ask for some help.

Thanks everyone I am feeling better. Since surgery I had been kind of lax about taking my antidepressants, thinking I was doing better and didnt need them, but I am back to taking them regularly and know I will be feeling even better soon.

Thanks again!
