1st Christmas Dinner after surgery

I was worried, but think I didn't do too badly.

We got together with my daughter and her husband and my 3 grandbabies (well, not babies - they are 14, 12, and 9).  My daughter cooked a nice meal.

I took my new Vera Bradley lunch bag, and filled it with what I needed.

I had :

1 ounce of Baby Food Butternut Squash
1 ounce of Baby Food Peaches

which filled my pretty little 4" appetizer plate.

I had about 1/4 tsp mashed potatoes, and a pea sized dollop of the soup in the green bean casserole.

I also had about a dime sized bite of ham, which I chewed thoroughly to get the taste and then spit out.

When it came time for dessert and they were passing apple pie, my favorite, I made myself a cup of hot chocolate using water, non fat dry milk, and chocolate protein powder.

I did well, wasn't hungry, and did not feel deprived.

I know - I cheated a tiny bit..... but for me, that was a miraculous improvement over pre surgery days!!

How about the rest of the new post ops?  How did you guys do and how did you handle the big dinner?  What did you have that was yummy??

I believe I did really well. I had a dap of mashed potatoes, a dab of corn casserole, Some smokies, a few meatballs, When everyone was digging into the fudge and other sweet temptations I pulled out my no sugar added hot cocoa. Yummy. I think I over did it on the crackers and dip but all in all I felt I did not overdue it. I have not gained any weight over the holidays which is the first for me. I am not newly post op. But I am to the point I could gain weight if I did overdue it.
