Dehydration again?
I've thought I had a touch of the flu since my son vomited the other day. But now I'm not so sure. I feel worse now than I did when I went to the hospital on Monday. I can barely stand up for more than a minute or two. Couldn't even stand to take a shower today. My heart rate shoots up whenever I'm up moving around. My lips/mouth are dry. I can't hardly stay awake. What do you all think? Do I have a flu bug making me feel like this and I just haven't had vomiting or diarrhea or am I just more dehydrated?

Forgot to mention, I am also having a lot of pain on my left side (not near my incision) that is new over the last few days. I had been pretty much pain free until this started up.

Have you gotten your fluids in the last couple days? If you have been, then I would go back to the ER and have them check into things. That sounds like dehydration and I even had severe pain in my left side with it at the worse episode I have had. That being said, It could be something totally different. It's best not to play around with it.
I hope you get feeling better soon. Keep me informed girl!

Before this episode, I was getting in 40oz. The past 2 days, I have gotten 24 and 28 oz in. I've been napping alot which cuts back on my drinking time. I'm going to hold off and call the dr in the morning. Thanks for the reply.

You sound really dehydrated. Getting less than 30 oz in over the last few days is not enough to keep you going. Dehydration can make you feel like you are. I would call Dr. E's office first thing in the morning and just plan on a trip for some IV fliuds -- or just go in to the ER tonight and get hydrated now if you continue to get worse!
Just my thoughts -- good luck!

Are you still taking your loratab? If so might I suggest you talk to your surgeon about using tylenol at least during the day?? If you are napping so much that you are letting yourself become dehydrated thats a problem. If you need to set an alarm clock or have someone call and wake you please do so. Getting your fluids in is a huge part of your recovery, your body needs those fluids to heal.
You really need to call your surgeons office first thing in the morning and discuss this with them. Your surgeon or nutritionist needs to educate you on how to get in the fluids necessary to keep you healthy and why this is important.
