Good Morning My Fellow Losers!
Wow! What a whirlwind of a weekend for me!
Surgery was Friday and I came out of it super well. Yippeee!
Sorry we missed each other, Melissa. We're gonna get through all this together, okay! My surgery was supposed to be moved back to 10, but then, I wasn't called bac****il about 10:45. Everyone was running a little behind, as it was super busy! I'll tell you though, everyone who I dealt with was treated my husband and I so wonderfully. We laughed and joked alot--seemed to make the time go faster anyway. One of nurses who came in to draw my blood in the beginning said, "now this might stick a little, but don't worry, cause it won't hurt me a BIT!"
I ended up staying until yesterday (Friday-Sunday), however Dr. Gupta said I was good to go on Saturday. I did get pretty tired after getting all that walking in and decided to just stay the extra night. I'm glad I did though. My only regret with this surgery is that I didn't do it sooner--like maybe 100 pounds ago.
Duh! (Even though my weight went up in the hospital like I knew it would). I do believe that there is a purpose for everything in our lives though. For some reason, this seemed to be my time. :) I'm good with that!
Since being home, I have had water, crystal lite, SF pudding, and strained cream of chicken soup. All went down really well. I have been rather burpy, however not so much from the other end. Dr. Gupta told me not to start the proteins until I was able to pass gas down there. Anyway, I can feel it coming on today. LOL I'm in no hurry though, I have the rest of my life to figure this out. I think I read we don't go on proteins until day 5, so I've got plenty of time. I'll be getting my binders out today for review. Well, at least until January 5th when my husband/I go back to work. :)
I will go back to see Dr. Gupta on Wednesday, 12/24/08. As for now though, I'm just taking things fairly easy. I am taking the food/drinks as slowly as I can, as I have the serious food police living/breathing right under my nose. Fun stuff, I tell ya!
The liquid lortab has been a true Godsend! I do get pretty sleepy from it, however I find it helps to have some of it in my system before I do my walking. Go figure!
I haven't had the emotional breakdowns as of yet, but I think I'm ready for em. Today is a new day. Sometimes we all need to have a healthy cry, right?!
Thank you to all who have been so encouraging to me throughout this processs. I feel so richly blessed and loved by my new OH family! Special shout outs and thanks to Dawn (imonmyway) Dawn you've been a great angel to me. I'm so glad we were able to meet. I think it was also good for my husband to see how much support there is from the OH family who were able to come up! Thanks to Jen and Chuck (candycain--wonderwoman and hubby) and Tammy (1of Gupta'sProjects) and her daughter...sorry Tammy, her name is skipping me at the moment. We had good times, didn't we?! Tammy, I'm glad we were able to meet. Thank you for your gifts as well. I am anxious to try that grinder thing. :)
Jen, we started going through that sack of stuff you brought....oh my goodness. There is so much stuff. I can't wait to try out everything. I look forward to the times we can walk/sip together. Exciting stuff, huh?! Jen, I wanted to tell you too that your hair still looks great. I'm sure that you notice it coming out, but it's your hair! My personal was that it looked just as thick and healthy as it did the first day we met.! And yes, I do know what opinions are like...in the sense that everyone has one!
Christie, thanks so much for the e-card. That was so cool and really brightened my day. I didn't even know about that capability either...very sweet! I wasn't going to devote any scrapbook pages to this surgery cause I wasn't too keen on looking at my fat self, but at the same time, I sure don't want to forget where I've come from. Yep, I'm gonna be one of those people who has the fat girl pic on her fridge. I gotta do it!
I feel so blessed to have you all as my extended family. Now, especially since I've gone through this surgery, I want to make a specal effort in attending these fabulous get togethers people keep raving about. :) I think I can get my hubby more involved in that type of thing now too! I'm really wanting to come to the clothing exchange, if not for the clothes, but for the fellowship!
Great big hugs to everyone!

Christina, I am so glad you are doing well. We are excited and thrilled to have you as a part of our OH family as well. I hope we can get a chance to meet soon. With us being so close together it might be easier for us to make a "lunch" date when you are feeling up to it.
Keep up the good work and the positive attitude!
Huge hugs,
Tracy

I'm so tickled for you! It sounds like you are doing great. Remember, ATTITUDE is EVERYTHING! You are going to do great. I'm sorry I didn't get to the hospital this weekend. I really wanted to see you. I hope you can come to the clothing exchange and bring Don. He will have a good time too.
Congratulations!
Annette
I can eat as much as I want...I just don't want much.
I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike bar...
Welcome home and I'm so glad you're doing well!
