Thank you for all the prayers and thoughts while I had my surgery. Thank you to Carol and Sherri for coming to see me and I apologize for being so sleepy while you where there.  I am finally beginning to feel better but yesterday I had my first "dumping syndrome" and OMG thought I was dying.....but I am better now. Just wanted to take a minute to tell you thanks again and I hope to hear from you all soon....Jennie

Hi Jennie!!  Glad to hear you are feeling better.  Thanks for posting and giving us an update on you.  Sorry to hear about the dumping syndrome you had.  I haven't had one yet in 10 weeks. The fear of dumping is a big incentive for me. Be careful of what you are eating.

Blessings to you all, Leah

Take care Jennie - I had one dumping episode also.  I didn't think it was, but the nurse said yep - you just dumped!  I was taking Citracal soft chews for my calcium.  I have a co worker that had wls and she takes them and gave me some to try.

Well, wouldn't you know it?  they have 4 gms sugar each.  I was needing to take 3 per day.  apparently 4 gms sugar is my dumping trigger.  I don't wanna do that again!!

Take care and check in often!

She can't find them anymore.  She had her pharmacy order a bunch for her before they stopped making them.  I contacted the company - Citracal was bought out and the new company doesn't see the need for the Citracal chews.  What do they know?

Hey, Jennie!

Congrats on the surgery and I am glad to hear that you are doing well.  Sorry about the dumping syndrome episode.  I don't know if this will hel*****t but before I had my surgery I got a bottle of Calcium Citrate (with Vitamin D, K, Magnesium & Zinc) from Costco... Kirkland Signature brand... 300 Tablets.  I have discovered that if you crush these pills (I crush in a coffee grinder) and add them to the babyfood applesauce (1 pill for 1 ounce) that it will liquify the pill.  I have not yet been able to even taste the pill in the applesauce.  So I take 1 pill for breakfast, lunch and dinner each and am able to get in all 1500 mg.  The bottle costs... if I recall correctly... around $15.... and you get enough to cover you for 100 days.  I had asked Linda... one of the nutritionists... about this before the surgery and she said that this would be fine as long as it was crushed and I got in 1500 mg (which is 3 pills) each day.

The biggest problem I have is being able to drink the protein stuff... some of them are WAY too sweet in taste.  I do not like the grape protein bullets... yuk... too sweet.  I also do not like those cookies 'n cream protein shakes or the vanilla ice cream.  So far everything else is okay just not these.  I really like the IsoPure Apple Mellon and the Extreme Body 50, Banana Cream is pretty good also.... not thick like many others are.  The Fruit Punch protein bullet isn't too bad... better than the grape.

Hope this helps some.  Good luck. :O)

Hi Jennie,    hope you are feeling better.  I am still getting sick just about every time I eat or drink,  I am getting scared that something is wrong.  They have those chews at Walmart in martinsville.  Hello to everyone, I will post when I start feeling better.
Merry Christmas to all, and Happy New Year!

Uggghhhh...I had the mother of all dumping syndromes yesterday! I ate a bowl of Life cereal, and I guess that was too much in the way of sugar and carbs. I've never had an attack like that...I was shaking, chilling, overheated, and had AWFUL nausea. It lasted about 45 minutes. NEVER AGAIN! I thought Life cereal would be safe...guess I know better now!

Good luck on your journey!

Jenny
