need some advice from you experienced folks

I have noticed since the day I left the hospital that on my left side, one incision is indented way in.  I look a little lopsided.  Ok.  I can deal with that.  This morning, during my shower, I felt a lump just above that spot.  This is the only place that is still tender, and it is also where I hurt when I bent over in the hospital to pick up something.

Of course, my doctor is in surgery today - should be starting on Melissa right now!  I've left voice mail for his nurse.

Is this something to be concerned about?  I'm probably overreacting, but my hormones are in overdrive right now.  I'm scared it might be a hernia of some type and I'd have to go back into surgery.  I don't want to do that!  Any advice?

I had a ton of pain on my left side.  And yes it did sink in too.  I was told it was where all the major tools went in and the lump is probably muscle fussing back together.  I had to call my doctor too because all the others were not hurting anymore but that one and boy does it hurt.

Hope this helps...

I have had several of my incisions from past surgeries that form a "knot" at the top or just above it.   It's good that you called your surgeon for your own peace of mind.  I really don't think you have anything to worry about. But that's just me.  I'm not a doctor, nor have I ever played one on tv.

Let us know what they have to say.

Soft Huge hugs so it don't hurt ya!

The info you two have provided has gone a long way towards easing my mind!  Thank you.  I still haven't gotten a response from the nurse yet, but I'm sure she's busy.  We know my surgeon is busy - don't want to distract him in any way!!

I had the deep indentation and the knot too. Dr. Huse said it was scar tissue forming and not to be worried about it.  I'm two months out now, the indentation is gone, but the knot is still there, he said over time, it would soften up.  Hope that helps

Thanks Jenn!  That also helps a lot.  whew.... thank you ladies.  I was panicky thinking I might have a hernia or something requiring an additional surgery.  It's way too soon!!   Thanks.

Ladies, Dr. E's nurse, who is a wonderfully nice woman, just called.  You guys give great advice!  She said it's scar tissue formation, which will be eventually reabsorbed by the body.

Now if I could just quit the diarrhea!

I'm sure you're fine, I had a knot, too. It went away after a few weeks. It's normal, you've just had major surgery. Take a deep breath and relax!
