OMG, my day is tomorrow!!
They called this morning to tell me they moved my time up from 1:45 to 10:30am. I'm excited about that because I won't be waiting all day, but it also freaked me out a bit! My husband was going to work 1/2 day, now that's out. He and his boss were both ok with it though. My mom got to town today. She will be here til Sat and then my MIL will be here for a week. Anyone and everyone are welcome to come visit. My last name is Hess. My husband is working on Thurs and Fri so I'll be alone most of the time.

Sending good vibes your way for tomorrow. I had my surgery with Dr E on 6/4/08 and was made very comfortable at the Hospital. I was not nervous at all the morning of my surgery for some reason. They do things there so fast that I didn't have time to worry. LOL! Anyway good luck tomorrow and please have someone update us on how things go.

Hey Melissa! I am schooching over on the loser's bench (move over Jeanna! LOL) to make room for you!
At least you don't have to wait as long. My surgery was scheduled for 11 AM. The last thing I remember was the anesthesiologist saying something about goodnight - it was 11:03 according to the big clock on the wall. So - they do run on time.
There is so much going on, there's really no time to get scared. A St. V Bari Buddy sat with me and chatted for quite awhile - I knew her from another message board too!
Put it this way, you will not even get to plant your butt in the waiting room chairs. You are immediately taken back and treated like a princess.
Wish I could come visit, but only being a week out, I'm not real sure about driving the 40 some miles from Camby to Carmel. Know that I'm with you in spirit, and I know you will do great!! Crunch your ice chips, and walk! When Jeanna and I were there, there were a couple of folks that must have been training for a marathon or something - they had 2 rows of hash marks marking their laps!!
Say hi to Dr. E for me. He looks so cute in his scrubs! And look for Matt, the hunky aide! Wow - he is some nice eye candy for a recovering woman!! Hugs and have someone report when they can!!

Hi Melissa---I was going to contact you later today. I live about 2 hours away but will be at St V's on Thursday for my pre op testing so I wil stop by to see you, I am thinking I should have a break to sneak up there. My surgery is in 3 weeks.
Since we are both RN's it will be interesting to get a nursing prespective of the surgery. :o).
Hope to see you THursday-----let me know who else I should look for while I am there---I think someone had surgery today, right? I will have to try to find name.

Hi Terry - Rosarosso had surgery today, Melissa is tomorrow, and someone else is Thursday. There are many this week! Good luck with your tests tomorrow. I'm doing a copy and paste of my much earlier post on what to expect during the upper GI... just keep it in mind...
Oh mannnnn -
Shanna, if I didn't like you so much, I'd slip you a cup of barium so you could enjoy the experience too!!
It's not pleasant. Imagine drinking liquid chalk. Being half nekkid and wearing a hospital gown - being lowered onto your back on a cold, hard table, and being asked to roll around.
Now, the tech said it was so the barium would coat my stomach. Yeah, right. I think she was filming it for YouTube and adding circus music to it.
Then, she gives me another cup of this stuff - thinner this time. With a big 'ol straw. And asks me to take 3 big gulps of this stuff so they can check my swallowing.
I tell her if it is any more than that, she will get a chance to check my projectile vomiting. She is not amused.
Then she smiles, tells me I was a good girl (I'm probably old enough to be this chick's grandma), and offers me a drink of water to get the taste out of my mouth. I tell her to get the taste out of my mouth, I need tequila and some limes. She had no sense of humor.
She simply hands me the sheet of paper that she gives all the circus animals that tells me for the next couple of days, my poop will look like marshmallows or be a funny "golden" color. Oh good - ghost poop. Too bad I missed Halloween.

Melissa, I am so excited for you. I have said prayers for you several times today. I am preparing to come visit you on Thursday. I am getting prepared so I can check on you for the group tomorrow and post on your progress. I feel so honored to be your angel. It's gonna be so exciting seeing you transform into the new you!
I will continue to pray for you this evening and a special prayer in the morning. All will be great! It sounds like you have plenty of help coming for the little ones too.
Can't wait to meet you!
