St V. Christmas Party

My husband and I drove 2 hours in the horrible weather to be at the party last night. It was very nice and there was a pretty good attendance. They had some good healthy snacks and I got to visit with a few people thorughout Indiana. I would imagine next year will be better because I will be at goal by then and perhaps knowing a few more people from here so, I can say "Hey, I'm glad I got to meet this one or that one from on here".  I go to the main board a lot and it would be nice to make it to one of the other bigger events in Cali or Phili or somewhere. Do we have a summer picnic in Indiana for our group of WLS people? If anyone knows, I would be willing to help with anything needed also. Help do some organizing or planning.
Have a great day all?
Be Well  : )

The rain was bad, but last week they were predicting snow for last night, so I was glad to see the rain.  This was my first year going to the party.  It was really nice.  I'm so glad I went.  I was very surprised there were so many people there.  I had a great time.  I did get to meet a couple of people from here.  I will definitely make this an annual event.

Generally it is " Give an event and they will come"
Most of us have hosted some type of dinner, ornament exchange or camping weekend.
Give it a shot it does not have to be big.  Even if just one or two show up it is a blessing.  Sometimes before support group meetings people meet for fellowship.
Last year there was a walk from obesity but it did not happen this year.  Maybr next year.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou has done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

You too Connie and Joe. It was nice to see you in person when I have smiled at your profile picture on here. It's sweet, our pic is one of our engagement pictures. It was nice to meet you and I'm looking forward to going next year when I will be a bit more seasoned. I still feel like such a WLS rookie. You two are even newer out of the gate. Did you stay long? We ended up going over to see his daughters apartment and then headed home since we had a good drive.

Agreed... Stay in touch

Johnna,

We stayed until about 9 then headed home--had to work the next morning. We had fun and like you hope to meet more people. We are rookies too but it was nice to visit with people with the same experiences.

PM me sometime.....was going to send you one but your profile is private.

Tell the "bad" husband hello and it was nice meeting him.

Talk to you soon.

So many faces at the party!    I saw several empty tables over by the dance floor.  Maybe not the entire table, but many, many empty seats.     I only saw very few people I knew.  Got pictures.  I'll post them soon.

We  (Lisaladybug and I) had a good time.   It was a fun evening.  I really thought the people rude who started talking when the lady started playing the piano.  People should have given her the same attention as if she was talking.  I really, really thought that was bad!    Dr. Inman's presentation was a little strange I thought.  Couldn't they have done that at their own Christmas party and had the "inside jokes" make more sense?  Strange!

You saw people come in in ratty jeans and shirt then dressed all the way to the nines.  I think it is great that people feel comfortable enough to come.

Like I said, it was a fun evening!  Food was good and company was great!

Blessings, Lois K   :)

I do tend to agree with you that they seemed to be commending the staff and I felt like more attention should have been paid on the patients. I guess it wasn't as much as I had hoped it would be but, it was very nice and next year when I know a few more people I will plan on staying also to get to know some. We left early enough since we had a drive home and the weather was a bit poopy. I was one dressed up for the occassion and yes people did seem comfortable in whatever they had on. My husband and I did walk over the the empty tables by the dance floor for awhile. I thought about getting him out on that floor but they were doing the "Train Chain" and so that was about when we make our exit (LOL).
Glad you had a good time. That lady pianist was such a lovely story and she did play beautifully.
