Protein

Wondering if any of you use the milk + non fat dry milk combo for your protein? I'm not a huge milk fan, but afraid I won't find a protein supplement I like. Plus being able to get my protein and fluid requirements killed with one stone would be nice. Does the dry milk make the milk thick/chunky? I just don't know what to do. Can't afford to waste a lot of money on trying different things. What are your thoughts?

I'm lactose intolerant, but I seem to tolerate milk products better if they are combined with something else.  I'm going to try Lactaid, which I've been using for quite awhile, with the non fat dry milk with some SF chocolate pudding mix (dry) - put in the blender with some ice and make a milk shake of some kind and see how that works.  If it works ok, like you, I can kill two birds with one stone, and it is a lot cheaper than buying all the other stuff and experimenting to see what I can handle.

We can all swap around protein powders though if we can't stand 'em!

I have drank skim milk for years.  Adding the dry milk to it only changes the "transparency".  I couldn't really tell a difference as far as thickness or anything else.  I mixed my "milk plus" with sugar-free Carnation instant breakfast (often referred to on the board as SFCIB) for a great protein shake alternative.  When frozen it's like a Wendy's frostie.

Yum, I love frosty's from Wendy's. May have to try that one. I did look at Wal Mart for the SFCIB and couldn't find it, only saw the regular CIB. Where do you buy yours?

BTW, did you get my "thank you so much" message for the dishes? I was having trouble with OH that day and was afraid it didn't go through. I can't thank you enough and am so sorry I missed you when you stopped by.

I didn't get the message, but that's okay.  I'm glad you liked the dishes.  Sorry we didn't connect that evening.

I usually get my SFCIB at Kroger.

Our walmart doesn't have SFCIB, I get mine at Kroger.  I have even seen it at Save A Lot once in awhile.

I use the milk + dry milk combo and I add sugar free dry pudding mix and ice.  I buy different flavors of pudding so I can vary the taste, but I have to say plain ole chocolate is my norm.  I've also used vanilla and added things like pumpkin or fruits to it for something different.

It's definitley worth trying...it's the only protein I've been able to handle since surgery which is odd because I liked all the proteins I tried pre-op...even the bullets, but now I can't stand them.  *sigh*

Good luck!
