acrylic nails

Hi Ladies and Gents!  I'm wondering if anyone besides me is having problems keeping their acrylic nails on their figures since they've had surgery?  I'm 3 months out and everything was fine until earlier this month and their good for about 1 or 1 1/2 weeks then they all pop off.  I'm going to a salon to get them done not one of those quick nail salons so I don't think it's the product...at least I hope it isn't because its either acrylics or nail biting (and that hurts  me too much)

I am 8 months out and wear acrylic nail and have before, during and now after surgery and have not had one bit of problem.  I also go to the salon to get mine done and mine last me 6 weeks between fills and have not broke one or had one pop off.  I would say that it is the salons cheap product.  I got mine done about 10 years ago at a salon and and they would pop off after a day or so.  I quit going there and found me another nail salon and have not had the first bit of trouble.  I have found that you should really go to a salon where they do just nails.  And go to one that has been around for a while because when they are first starting out they try to cut corners and sometimes it is in the product quality.  Just my opinion, but again I have not had any trouble and I love my nails.

Are you taking Biotin? It not only helps your hair but it helps your nails as well. Try taking at least 1000 mcg/day. It's a B vitamin so you can find it with the other vitamins in the pharmacy section.

My hair started falling out ~4 months out so it only makes sence for your nails to start giving you some problems about the same time. You might want to give the enamel a break while you build it up with the Biotin. Hard as Nails usually worked well for me too. I found that the best thing to keep me from biting my nails was putting DARK polish on them. I would always think twice before sticking them in my mouth then because I didn't want them to look like crap.

Right now, my hair is doing fine (I've stayed on Biotin every since I was told about it 4 years ago..thank god!). My nails are being very brittle however. That is one of the symptoms of my thyroid being an underachiever. We've been struggling for over a year to get my synthroid at a happy level for it but it still isn't quite there. I can tell...brittle nails, dry skin, etc. So...be sure to mention this to your pcp (especially if Biotin doesn't help). They may want to run some bloodwork just to be sure all is well. My thyroid didn't cross that borderline until I was 3 months post-op and was caught at a regular pcp visit.

OMG!  Sherri that was too funny! I just about spit milk all over my laptop...you are so right I wasn't thinking about the guys at all was I?   Guess I decided there was a husband or boyfriends whose wife/girlfriend was having this issues.
