Tracy,
I am SO Indiana illiterate when it comes to where what town is so I asked my hubby where Marion is. He said that you would most likely take 69 south to 465 and then 465 over to 31 (Meridian)...and then north on Meridian. When you go that way, you will pass the Ritz Charles (it'll be on the left side (west) of the road). Turn left at the next night, and then left at the first street (I think there's a gas station or something on that corner and the street is right after that). That street is a frontage road that will take you back south to the Ritz Charles. I know my first year going, we passed the Ritz and I was thinking 'well, how the heck do I get to it???'. I'm hoping someone who comes from the north and gets there by driving south on 31 can give some hint-hints as to what to look for to know when to turn...other than 'oops, there it is..uh...was'. I think driving south-bound you can actually get onto that frontage road without having to turn at that light. Hey Ellen (or anyone else up north)....is that right?
The Ritz is well lit up at night. I do give the suggestion of dressing up a little and bringing your favorite honey because they have a beautiful tree decorated that makes for some excellent pictures! You will see people in anything from Jeans to designer outfits. DEFINATELY have comfortable shoes on...there's a DJ so a very good dancing opportunity!
You may want your 'date' to eat a little something before going. They supply veggies & dip, fruit & fruit dip, cheese & crackers, coffee, tea, water, and I think Crystal light (and sweetners/sugar, creamer). There's plenty to satisfy our post-op tummys but the years my son or daughter join me, there wasn't MEAT so they were still hungery. Oh..and this is definately a grown up thing. Fancy-schmancy. My 'kids' are grown. The year my son 'escorted' me, he was 22 and Bill's eyes were too bad for him to feel comfortable in a crowd. The years my daughter joined us (she was +25 yr old), I wasn't able to drive myself (and hubby can't drive..he's legally blind). If you don't have a hubby or significant other, or grown child...you are welcome to bring along a relative, girlfriend, etc...or come alone. We won't let you sit in a corner gathering dust! There will be no wall flowers on that night! LOL!
Fair warning: This will be my 5th year going. It has snowed EVERY year on that date since I'd been going!! So bundle up!
See you then!

Because there were so many invitations to come back last year undeliverable for post-ops further out, it was posted that they are only sending invitations out to those who are a few years out and less. Those who are further out are invited & welcome to come, we just won't be getting an invitation so that they can save on the wasted postage. You don't need to RSVP and you don't need to show your invitation at the door or anything. You do sign in at the front and put on a name tag but that's about it.
