WLS complications and $
I'm just wondering...I recently got approval from my insurance company to have WLS and am waiting for a date. My insurance co. (BCBS) pays up to $15,000, then you're on your own. My ? is what happens if we have complications (not our fault, but it happens, right)?! Say for example I have to have an endoscopy, get a stricture, blood clot, ulcer, whatever...am I on my own $ wise because these things are related to WLS or are individual insurance companies all different? Certainly not a deal breaker or anything like that...I'm definitely committed to the process, I just want to be prepared for what lies ahead.

Christina,
I have Anthem BCBS. They didn't put a limit on my WLS though with the policy my compnay has witht them. They have covered all of my complications. They have also covered all of the from my plastics even though they only covered one portion of it (the tummy tuck). I would suggest your calling BCBS and asking them what specifically your policy covers. The policies are written up to meet the wishes of the employer (and what they are willing to co-pay on for the payments) so your policy probably isn't identical to anyone on here unless they happen to be employed by the same employer.

I would ask your insurance company. They have ppl to answer questions but from my nursing experience I would say that if you have added diagnosis that they would have to pay for them. For example...if u go to the hospital for a broken leg but then u get a secondary infection of Pneumona. They pay for both....not just one thing.
Good luck
