Hi Everyone!!
I am looking for cookbooks that are for low carb/high protein.  Anyone have any suggestions?
Looking on Amazon.com there are quite few.  I just want to get something that actually promotes flavor and taste.
So I hope that you guys can steer me in the right direction.
Blessings to you all, Leah

Don't know if this is what you're looking for, but I just read today that a dietician at St. V's Carmel wrote a cookbook and it's sold in the giftshop. It's meant for post op bariatric sugery patients.

They sold the cookbooks at my surgery class.  My BFF got one and she says it is really good.  She uses it all the time.  St. V's has a bariatric shop that they sell may things.  From what the NUT told me at my last appt.  they even sell Calcium Crystals now.  So, if there is something that a person is finding difficult to locate, Maybe they would have it there.

I go back down there on the 20th and will be checking out all the things they offer.  But I know they have the cookbooks.

Take Care, Tracy

Leah,

You should look at my shelf of cook books! LOL! I have the one that St. V's sells..and unless they changed the formatting of it, I wasn't real crazy about using it. Mine is set up only by what 'phase' you were in..not by 'meats', 'side dishes', etc so I pretty much had to look through the entire thing to find a recipe for what I needed or was in the mood for. I also have about every Splenda one there is (which...I use these more than any other), all of the Pampered Chef cook books, several church fundraiser cookbooks, and I think even a Betty Crocker or two.

When you are looking in a bookstores cooking aisle, I would recommend books that are geared for diabetics (low/no sugar), Atkins diet (low/no carb) or Splenda. You can also check out foodtv.com for recipes...I avoid most of Paula Deen's though....BUTTER!! lol.  I had bought a one year of 'Eating Light' magazines. I would not repeat my error. All of the recipes in them contained real sugar. Most, I really did not see what was 'light' about their eating suggestions. Just about any recipe though can be made healthy for us by substitution. Use Splenda instead of sugar (or use Splenda blend if it's for baking). Use skim milk, egg beaters, sweet potatoes, low starch veggies. Saute' in Olive oil or Canola oil. I've also gotten into reading the labels on spices & trying some new ones out.

You know what I think would be great? If all of you "losers" would type up a recipe or two that is your favorite and someone volunteered (I'd be willing) to put it into recipe book form. Nothing like those who have lived the life sharing cooking tips with the rest of us newbies. Any takers??
