Good 1 yr appt but kinda scary
I had my one year post op appointment yesterday. I have to say I love Dr. Diaz! He is just so wonderful and so inspiring. I know we all think our surgeons are the best but mine really is! Teehee...
He said my weight loss is great. All of my levels were good too except for calcium. I have been using calcium carbonate (I know I know) because I didn't want to spend the extra money ordering the citrate. I've also been complaining about my bones aching. He said it was due to the calcium level. Dr. Diaz said I'm not absorbing enough calcium through my gi tract and so my body is taking it from my bones. I just posted a few weeks back about my bones hurting. It kind of scared me when he said that. I went straight to the boutique and bought some of the lozenges and started them yesterday. He also said sometimes weight loss patients get some sort of "syndrome" where their whatever gland works funky and doesn't take calcium from the right place. He's going to check my calcium level again in 3 months and if it's still off, I'll have to have that gland checked.
Other than that little issue, my appointment was dandy! I didn't get to see the nutritionist because they were so backed up. Troy wasn't a happy camper about it. We waited before my appt with Dr. Diaz and after but couldn't get in. We decided to just leave. Dr. Diaz answered my questions anyway. Still, I wish I could've met with the nut.
Well, I hope someone learns from this and keeps taking or starts taking their calcium citrate!
I enjoyed spending time with Sherri and Shana! It's always fun getting to really see and hug my OH buddies.
Love you guys!
