Hi, I am Katie and I am scheduled to have my surgery on Monday November 10 (less than a week!!)  I am 20 years old, but I have thought this through for a couple years before I made my decision.
I am writing for a stupid reason....I was wondering if some one around my age (or younger) could tell me if they had any problems with excess skin. This, of course is not a deal breaker or anything, but my surgeon said that I have no reason to worry about it, but I would just like some reassurance.
I know that everybody and every body is different, but I am curious.
Thanks, and I hope my future posts are a bit more interesting!!

Hey!  I am having suregery on Monday too!  I am 33 and when I talked to Dr. Jones she said I was still young so my skin would go back. so I think you will defintitely be OK.  See you Monday... my surgery is at 8am.

Hi Katie!

Welcome to the board. I'm an old fart (47) so I had the loose skin problems. The older you are, the more kids you've had (I have 2) and the more yo-yo diets you've been on...the worse condition your skin is to be able to bounce back. Your's should be fine. You aren't old enough to have been able to abuse it too much!

Good luck with the surgery...and come often here!

Hi Katie,
First off, congrats on getting started on a healthier lifestyle ! I  was 57, so speaking as an older person, who has had neumerous surgeries, 3 kids and over 20 # of excess skin, I agree totally with Sherri. You shouldn't have any problems at all.
I hope your journey to wellness goes smoothly! I'll be at St.V's Monday for my daughters surgery- if you'll pm. me your names I'll drop by and check up on you after surgeries are over, ok?!
Keep on posting on here, go to support groups, and our gatherings -I look forward to meeting you!!!

Hi Katie,
Nice to meet you. I was 33 when I had my surgery. I was, at my highest 300 pounds, though and I have had 2 kids. My skin looks like a stretched out balloon. I could prolly be a size 6 if not for the hanging skin. Oh Well atleast I am not 300 pounds. I am thankful for that and I have been working ou****rainer to atleast tone my muscles. Maybe then My skin won't look so bad. Welcome again. Hope to meet you soon.

Welcome. I was 25 when I had my RNY. :) I know I'm not quite as young as you but I wish I'd done it when I was 20! Sheesh.
