Blackberries....

Our nut suggested putting frozen fruit into our protein drinks but I was wondering about blackberries due to the seeds. She mentioned strawberries so would the blackberries be ok? I have emailed her and have not gotten a response.

Thanks!

Myself, because of the stoma issues I had, I think I would hold off on any seeded berries and stick to bananas, melons, and peaches. I didn't think you could have fruit yet at all though....ou might want to check your (yellow?) sheets that you got during your pre-op nut class.

I had different things get hung up around the stoma (scrambled eggs, cataloupe)..but I never tried berries until I was ~a year out.

I was surprised when she suggested the fruit but she thought it would help us get the protein down and would add some "good carbs". I will wait until I get a email from her back.

thanks,

connie, if you got the post op folder on page 5 about protein supplements it says blended fruit so yes i think any just so its blended up. also i make my protein with 4 cups 1% milk and 1 cup nonfat dry milk that give you 60 grams of protein ,it tastes better then any protein i have tried. i add sf powder pudding and have added bananas and strawberries for something different. Good luck ive had my surgery Oct 24.

You sound about like me. I have all kinds of proteins that I stocked up but the milk and dry milk taste the best to me also.

I saw the page you are talking about with what we are allowed to put in the supplements but am just kinda worried about the seeds in the frozen blackberries. We saw Marilyn as our nut and she suggested the frozen fruit at GFS which is where we got some but I just got to wondering about the b-berries. She mentioned the strawberries as being ok but do you think the seeds are bigger in the b-berries?

I have emailed her but she is part time and has not emailed me back so I am going to shoot off a email to a full time one.

Thanks for reminding me where that was in our post op info--it helped just seeing it in writing.
