2 1/2 weeks out and have some questions.....

First off, I am feeling great and healing well.

But,  I am having some food issues.  I feel hungry a lot more than I expected.  I have "cheated" a few times.  I am supposed to be on full liquids but yesterday I had a saltine cracker with pb on it.  I know ...not a good choice.  I don't get that full feeling, I go with my 2 oz or when I'm not hungry anymore.  I've heard several people say that they were not hungry for several weeks.

I am drinking my protein and taking all my pills....

Guess I just need to know if I am normal and get some encouragment.

Sweetie,
Your tummy is numb, so you may not feel full (at least until it's too late).  What you are experiencing is most likely "head hunger".  You are used to eating certain amounts at certain times and it will take a while to learn real signals for hunger and fullness.

Stick with your plan.  When you get these feelings, find something else to occupy your mind.

I have to agree that it helps a lot to stay really busy and keep your mind occupied.  You dont want to eat more than what is on your plan right now because you could do damage.  If you are feeling hungry make sure you are drinking enough water.  I find water helps curb my appitite most of the time.  Also a cup of hot portien for instance carnation instant breakfast warm helps hold me over.  I especially like hot protein at night.

Try drinking milk (if you are able to tolerate) when you start feeling hungry.  Its a little thicker then water and may help plus you are adding fluids.

Warm Swanson's chicken broth helped me.  It gave me the felling that I'd had something substantial.  Go at whatever you are having slowly.  Learn to savor the flavors and textures.  Even now, I eat less and feel fuller when I take the time to really taste and enjoy my food.
