ELFS?

Just how would I get involved in the elf process? It sounds like a blast and a great way to get to know someone. If there are several newer people who are interested, could we get started? Just wondering.

Hi I am new... 3 weeks post op from my lap RNY.  What does an ELF mean on here?

A Secret Elf is a program that Sherri started (and with the help of Floyd showing her a website called "Elfster" (hence the Elf part of the name)) that randomly matches everyone that wants to participate and is also in the Hoosier directory, match up to secrectly give gifts,email,ecards or whatever you want to exchange. Contact Floyd with your info because he does the directory released each month. For a six month period (I think that's the time period but I could be/probably am wrong, hahha) you are required to contact your person, secretly, at least once per month with a gift, an email, a card snail mailed, an e card.... ANYTHING. If your gift is food it should be WLS friendly. Sherri's only main rule, so that everyone gets a positive, fair, happy enjoyment/experience out of particpating, is that you only participate if you are fully able to give it your time. If at any point during you find that you just can't commit to it like you had planned, let her know so that she's able to shift things around so that whomever you had to Secret Elf gift too doesn't get neglected and/or end up having a bad experience or even complain to her that they never recieved anything. We really do end up having fun with this. We celebrate surgeaverseries(sp?), birthdays, new jobs, new family members..... anything going on in our elf's life. People have been known to send flowers, gift baskets, gift certificates to stores and/or resturants. Lots of very creative ideas. 

So if you are interested just follow these two steps. Step 1: Contact Floyd with your information for the Hoosier Directory. Step 2: Contact Sherri (aka sweetsherri) stating your interested in the next Secret Elf matching.

I have gotten some comments of people not hearing from their elves for quite awhile..so...everyone...have you been a good elf lately?

You can send Floyd an email at [email protected]. Include your full name, screen name, address/phone, email addy, spouse/sig. other's name, and special dates (birthdate, surgery date, anniversary date). I use the Hoosier Directory as an invitation list for the Secret Elf. So...not on it, you don't get an invite. I know Floyd would appreciate it if everyone didn't wait until the last minute to send him their info. Besides, it can be used for other things too (like seeing if you want to get together for lunch, go see you while you're in the hospital, etc).
