does anyone have the email for the dieticians at st v?  my binder is at home with the email addresses, and i am at work.  i need to get a hold of someone. the multivitamin is making me sick, almost everytime i take it.  i have tried the kids chewables, the adult chewables, and the liquid.  i dont know what else to do!!! any suggestions until i can get a hold of the dietician??  a lot of things are making me sick right now... i am 3 1/2 weeks out, and can barely get anything down.  i keep trying, but keep feeling bad.  i havent had enough to have anything stuck,  i can keep jello down and applesauce but that is about it.  i am drinking milk, but when i mix my protein with it, it makes me sick.... ?!?!?!?? i dont know what to do!!!
thanks!

i was unable to get my protein in....it all made me sick...so i was told to work on my liquids....so thats what i did...when i was able to eat a bit more....i worked on protein with food and protein bars.....i did lose alot of my hair....but i also did chemo around that time too.....so not sure how close the lack of protein had to do with my hair.....but lost 140 + pounds so it was well worth it....lol....just keep sipping...if it makes you sick try another....baby steps..... cottage cheese and beans worked well with me.....soups...i was  soooooooo restricted....i would get sick if i had more than a 1/2 ounce at a time....so try a smaller portion and eat really slow....sip slow too.....maybe it will help...now for vitamins.....it took a while for me to not feel icky....i would actually break them apart and split up my dose...so it would not upset my belly......good luck and keep us posted!

big hugs

Protein powders mixed with milk make me sick also.  Try a protein you can mix with water, for me I use Nectar Fuzzy Navel and add 1/2 pack of crystal light with it.  You can get nectar protiens at the Vitamin Shoppe and normally they have sample available.  I think  a lot of vitamins have sugar /  sugar alcohols in them so your nut may be able to point you in a direction to help with that issue.

We are doing good. Just still unable to get all protein, liquids in etc. Sounds like you are having a rough time.

I tried so many proteins pre surgery and now we can't hardly force them down.

If you get any tips from the nuts PM me please.

I guess it just takes some time....

Good luck!

DO YOUR BEST that is all they will expect from you.. y ou HAVE to keep liquids going in.. I couldnt do protien drinks but I made sure I got 6, 8 ounce glasses of plain milk a day and 5 cheese sticks.. I got my protien that way at first then I slowly added refried beans... and the other things allowed on the yellow sheet.

I chased my liquid vitamins with white grape juice.. 1 ounce usually did the trick.. Infact I chased almost everything with white grape juice... Now I chase it with cranberry juice... It masks almost every taste.

Today I went by the recipe on our sheets with just dry powdered milk and lowfat and have actually been able to drink it. But it is still over powering. I feel so full-have been walking around the house trying to make more room. But at least smelling the regular milk dosen't get to me!!

We tried cheese sticks and they sat on our pouchs so hard we were miserable!! but....

We are trying......................

Hi Connie,

I just wanted to mention that you can add sugar free pudding mixes to the powdered milk/lowfat milk combo.  It will add some flavor and mask the protein taste.  I used sugar free chocolate pudding powder in mine and added a handful of ice cubes and then blended it up and it tastes a little like a chocolate shake.  Yummo!

You guys are doing fine.  It takes time to get all the liquids and vitamins in...you will get there.  Keep up the good work - walk & sip, walk & sip!!
