Congrats GJB Mine is this Friday and I can't wait to be where your at with a whole new set of things to think about. lol!!
As far as the Protein goes I was told the same thing NO PROTEIN till you start passing gas. I don't know why I never asked!  We never think to as****il we get to the point of needing to know.lol!
You might form more gas and if your not relieving it it might just build up and that's never good.

Hi,

We had our surgery last Tuesday and our papers said "wait until passing gass" and also to start on the 5th day after. Harder to get the protein in than I ever would have thought!!

Protein will make your pouch rumble a bit if it has any gas in it. You don't want to cause more gas if you can't get rid of it.  You really are gonna do fine.  I am glad to hear your surgery went well.  The hardest part of the surgery process for me was/is the protein and fluids intake.  Some days it seems that It is impossible.  Keep your notebook from your class close by and use it like a bible.  It really does help alot.  You'll be so happy and feel so much better soon.  Oh, and don't freak out over the stall when it comes around the end of your first month.  EVERYONE does it.

I'm happy for you.  Take care and good luck!

I'm glad things went so well for you. I had my surgery on Thursday and getting up was so difficult.  I'm sure I probably passed you in the hall.  I've been reading and re-reading my binder every chance I get.  I am just trying to take things one day at a time.  Passing the gas is still a problem for me too.  When I called the nurse, she said we could take GasX, that seems to help temporarily.  I did try to get in a couple of glasses of milk today, but the protein shakes make the gas worse for me.  If you find a solution, please pass it along.  Best of luck to you in your new journey!  Jenn
