Hello everyone. My name is Melissa. I am just beginning this crazy roller coaster. I have had my initial consultation with the surgeon and my psychologist appt. I am awaiting insurance approval then a surgery date. I was excited to realize there was an Indiana area of this board. Nice to get to know people who might live near by. I live in Danville on the west side of Indianapolis. Any tips or experience you can share would be greatly appreciated. My current BMI is 44.2, I hope to lose 120 pounds.

Hi Ya! welcome, wow I can not get over all the newbies that have joined up on here just in last couple months....

I live in Heartland crossing, so Just a jump skip and a hop from you over there. ( hendricks county side of Heartland) My son goes to Plainfield.
Are you with Dr. Evanson through Clarian or St. V's?

We have alot of get togethers, so I highly recommend joining us as much as you can, because it is the greatest support group you can attend!

Good luck :)

Thank you so much for the reply. I will take all the support I can get. I am with Dr. Evanson through St. V's. I'm actually a nurse for St. V's, so no Clarian for me ;o)

I know where Camby is. My sister lives in Mooresville. Thanks so much!

I just wanted to say hello and welcome, from one Melissa H. to another.  Are you going to have RNY or lapband?  I'm still not too far out from surgery so I'm not the best at giving tips or advice, but if you have questions then ask away.  This group is great and someone will surely know the answer!!

Welcome Melissa! I had my RNY in 11/06, and have lost and kept off about 150 pounds in the last two years. In October 2006 I was on two blood pressure medications, and tested as diabetic for blood sugar for the first time. I had my surgery the next month, and now everything's normal.

This is a great place for support. I can't always get to IRL support groups because of a busy work schedule, but I come onto OH every day, and these wonderful people here have helped me through this journey.

Hi Melissa!  I also live in Camby - very close to Shanna!  I have Dr. Evanson also.  I've had my consultation, psych appt, have been approved by insurance, and am now awaiting a surgery date (anxiously!!).  Welcome.  Perhaps I'll see you at a support group - I attended the one in Plainfield this month - it was really good, and I plan to go back next month.

Tips:  find a support group you like, and attend, and come on here often, even if it is just to read posts!

A great big thanks to you all for making me feel so welcome. I am going to have RNY. I love the idea of getting into size 12 pants. Honestly can't remember the last time I wore 12's! ;o) I am going to attend the next support group in Plainfield and look forward to it. Wish they had them more than once a month! I'm very excited and can't wait to get started. Thanks again and I will be back daily to learn from you all!
