INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The state has jobs to fill. Wednesday morning the state will hold its first ever job fair in downtown Indianapolis.
Organizers expect more than 300 people to attend the job fair. The state says they have nearly 200 positions to fill. "with a turn over rate that is low at about 10 percent we're always looking for new folks," said Dan Heckler, Director of State Personnel.
New folks that would be a good candidate for a number of different positions. "We have various state agencies over 25 participating in the event," said Nicole Russel, Recruitment Director.
If you plan to attend the job fair here's what you need to know: Dress appropriately, organizers say business casual will be fine, bring a resume, and enter the Government Center through the south side entrance.
"we're hoping that we can just get everyone through the process and I'm pretty sure that we can, we have a lot of staff a lot of agencies that are willing to assist us and so we think that the event will be great," said Russel.
Organizers say there are a number of reasons to work for the state ranging from job security to benefits, plus challenging work that help Hoosiers daily. "I've only been with government for three years and it's been the best job I've ever had with the best people I've ever worked for," said Heckler.
The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
