Pre Op Nutrition Class
Had the class today... Wow that is a lot of information. It was a good class and I feel like I have a good idea of what to expect initially. But I am going to read the information a couple of times to feel more confident with how to make this work for me. I want to make sure that I am doing all I can to set myself up for success. I know that I will make mistakes and some days will be harder than others but I am committed to making this work. Or maybe I should just be committed.
Yes, it is a lot of information to process in one day. Believe me, we all felt overwhelmed. There is no way right out of surgery that you can get all of your fluids down. So don't feel like a failure. That is your goal. Eventually you will meet that goal, but not right at the beginning. Some people get really freaked out. Stay cool. Make a good faith effort. Walk and sip and then repeat. You will come through this with flying colors! Karen
I went to the Class last Thursday and it was a lot of info and a along day. But I learned a lot!
Then the next day I went to another class to see the Dietician and it seemed like it was the same thing all over again. Just a shorter day. Now this Thursday I have my Pre-op tesing.
Then Surgery on the 31st. It just seems to be moving qiuckly!
lol!

It is a lot of information. Reading it again and again is a good idea. Don't expect perfection from yourself right away. Do what you can and keep going. Do what you missed the next day or time.

HI! The last sentence is what you will think on the first day after you had surgery. Everyone thinks my GOD what did I do! This too shall pass! If you read your packet and keep it close to your side after surgery it will really help. Keep referring back to it as there is no way you can remember all of it. Also walk and sip! Repeat that through out the day over and over again! As Karen and Carol said you won't be able to get everything, such as water, all in at first so don't beat yourself up over it, just keep trying! Well Lady best of luck later today! Keep us posted on your progress! Michelle
You will do fine!
I remember after getting home from surgery I couldnt even get in 1/2 of what they told me. I called the nuts and they said it will come in time that it is ok if I cant get it all in. They said not to worry about eating as much but to concentrate on the protein. It will take a couple weeks to get in a routine, but you will find one that works for you.
