How many others where alone through this!

OK, I'm going in Thursday for my Testing! Then the 31st is my Surgery. I should put on here that I live around Southport and 65 area.  My Mother is coming up from North Carolina On the 30th for a week and a half. But after she goes home it's all Me.
I have kid's but they are grown and have there own life. My stepdaughter lives closest and I know I will see her everyday. And she will call constantly. The Girls will call alot! But I still live alone!
And I'm scared to put it plainly that I won't walk like I'm supposed to. I'm laid off right now Because of this damn economy. Which doesn't matter till I can go back to work anyway.
Plus I'm going through a divorce which doesn't really bother me .I've only been Maried since May 23rd. I have missed my Stepdaughter she's 4 I had her 2 Weekends ago and I'm going to try again for this weekend.  I should have never got married anyway!
But right now I wake up andcome out into the living room and sit in front of the T.V. all day till it's time to go to bed. I know once I lose this weight I will want to go go go. At least I hope so! I've been by myself for so many yrs that It scares me to think I won't get off my ass and get out except to work.
But I'm pretty sure it won't be a problem.
I know I'll go to Support Groups as long as I'm not working nights.

Hey Ricinindy good luck! Where do you live? maybe someone from OH lives near you and can help motivate you. I would but I live near Tipton. If you find someone who lives close to you they can be your surgery angel and then after surgery can become a walking buddy if close enough. All you need to do is ask for help and on this site you will get it. Please keep me informed of your feelings as you get closer to the big day! This will probably be the hardest thing that you have ever done in your lifetime and you will need a support system. I know that your family will be supportive but they won't know the answers to questions you have in the middle of the night but your OH family will because we have been through it. Hi Rich!

Welcome to Oh (Obesity Help) and welcome to the Indiana board. You have already done the hardest part! You made the decision to have the surgery and have a lifestyle change. You also have your list of goals there and that is fantastic! My suggestion? Print this off and tape it to where-ever it would do the most good to motivate you. After your surgery, your initial exercise will be walking. If you are like most of us, you're in no shape to do much beyond walking. As you lose weight, find some other activities...that you enjoy!!...to help the pounds melt off.

We're a pretty good support group right here on the board. Many of us also get together for dinners, etc. We also have several events throughout the year such as clothing exchanges/pitch-ins every 3 months, a trip to Holiday World (June), a weekend camp-out in Middlebury (August), a hot tub party (February), and a Christmas Ornament Exchange (December).  Kids are welcome to all of them except the hot tub party & ornament exchange..those two really are more geared for adults. But at all of them...you can bring a date once you start dating . The time will come...and probably alot faster than you are thinking that it will.

Are you in Indy? If so, which side? You are welcome to join in on any of the impromptu dinners that we have as well as anything else you see posted.

Dont know where you live but as long as you got a computer you are not alone!! We are with ya!! and YEA!! you made the hardest decision already.. Walking will get you moving and you will be dropping pounds and gaining a life in no time!!

Congratulations on the decision to move forward with a happier and healthier life. I had my RNY almost 2 years ago, and I never regret it. LOL, maybe for about five minutes when they were drawing all the vials of blood for my 2-year check up yesterday, but no, not really even then. I have a new life. You've found a great support group here. I thank goodness I found the Indiana board, because the people on here keep me on track and motivated, they are friends and supports.
