Pre-op testing

I had pre-op testing today.  Everything was going really good until I got to the upper gi test.  Holy cow!  That was disgusting and it made me sick.  I have nutrition class on Tuesday.  I am moving right along.  But man that barium stuff was just awful.

Yep!  And didn't you love it when they give you the stuff that makes gas bubbles, and then tell you not to burp?  At least you're done with that stuff.  You're almost there.

Your date is coming! The barium stuff is harder the day after surgery than preop !! Soo be prepared to have to do it atleast one more time. Thats how they check for leaks.

I agree.  The barium was horrible.  I felt bad the whole rest of the day.  Blech!  At least it's over with.

Misty, I didn't have to do another upper gi after surgery.  We have the same surgeon, right?  I don't know if they do things differently now or if they neglected to have me do it.  Strange.

I hope that since we have Dr C we don't have to do the barium again either!!! YUK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had surgery with Dr. Inman Dec 06.  I did not have to have any barium testing after my surgery either.  She had her patients drinking grape juice right after surgery and they said that leaks would be detected that way.  Things may have changed since then.  I don't know.  Each surgeon does things differently.  Hang in there.  Your time is almost here.  Karen
