Pray Please.....
Holly,
This brought back so many memories for me. I know her family has to be so shaken up right now. I know they are also probably questioning the wisdom of her having the surgery. Any surgery could have brought this on ( gall bladder, knee replacement...plastics), it just so happen to be WLS for her. I am sure she would rather it happen because she had a procedure to try to improve her life as to one to just slap a bandaide on one of obesity's many side effects. I know that isn't much consolation for her family right now...but after having gone through the coma and blood clot deal (not to mention the blood loss, etc), that is how I saw my experience anyway.
I have heard it said so many times that WLS is 'taking the easy way out'. Yeah, right. For those of us who have experienced stuff like this, there is nothing 'easy' about it! But...I wouldn't change a thing. I so hope and pray that Deb lives to be able to say the same thing. Please tell her family that we are all praying for her. Do you know who her surgeon is?

ps..this is a good reminder to pre-ops of why the lovenox injections are so important, as well as walking as soon as you can post-op. Sometimes, even those can't prevent this from happening. Sometimes, it just happens. I know I walked, walked, walked after my plastics and yet it still happened.

Holly, thanks so much for letting us know about Debbie. Please let her family know that we are praying for her. I know this is a very praying group. I had my surgery Dec. 20, 2006 and 5 days after I came home I had 5 blood clots in my lungs and went back to St. V's again. Many of you prayed for me then. Any surgery is risky as so many people have said previously. May Debbie and her family feel our prayers. Karen
