? For Self Payers
Did you pay your assisting surgeon? I was taken totally by surprise, no one ever mentioned an assisting surgeon nor the fact I would have a $1862.00 bill from him!
Is this right?

Thanks for your reply! I already paid the anesthesiologist.
Originally, I recieved a full $5,000 bill from the assistant surgeon. I called and they kept telling me this dr did my surgery and I was like "Uh, no...I know who my dr is!" So, they looked again and said "oh, right...we put the wrong code in, I'll send this to my supervisor and they will probably write this all off." Next thing I know, I get a bill today.
I tried to call Clarian Bariatrics to ask about this, but no one there will help me because I have to talk to THE person that knows about self pay bills, etc... I've left three voice mails and get no return calls.
Good thought to call the surgeon's office though.
Thanks!

Keep pushing the issue. I self paid for lap band and I received a contract so to speak that I signed up front which showed my costs. The anesthesia fee was supposed to be $665. I paid that 10 days prior to surgery. A week after surgery, I got a bill for $1250 from the anesthesia group. I called and the lady said that it was correct. I told her that I had paid my $665 prior to surgery. She said, "okay, I see that so your balance is $585." I said okay, so the paper that I received which I still have a signed copy of says the anesthesia fee is $665. Was that an oversight or just an out and out lie. She said hold on and let me check on something. Then, she came back and told me to disregard the bill.
Keep fighting for it. They should write it off.
