I have my pre-op testing on Tuesday and I don't know what to do.  My whole family have been sick.  My son and dh have bronchitis and I have been sick too.  I went to my primary on Friday and he prescribed by antibiotics but I then read my preop testing info and it says no antiobiotics two weeks prior to the breathtek testing.  What do I do????  What is teh breathtek testing?

Any info would be great!!!!!!

Call Dr. Evanson's office in the morning and ask for their advise. This close to surgery, run any med changes by them.

The breathing test..you blow in a tube until you can blow anymore. It will let the doc know if you have any asthmatic issues that they aren't already aware of..or if you do have asthma, how in control it is. It's a pre-caution. Definately nothing to worry about....k?

I hope you get to feeling better! It never fails. I ALWAYS have at least sniffles on the day I have any surgery!

Actually, the breathtek test is to detect the presence of H. pylori, a stomach bacteria that can cause ulcers and delay healing after surgery.  Talk to his office, he might want to delay your testing.
