Prayers please: my oral surgery is in the afternoon
It'd be nice if you could talk the hematology center into leaving the iv in place so you didn't have to get stuck a second time at the dentist, huh? I know, fat chance.
Anyway, I do wish you lots of luck with both. When my daughter had to have all of her top teeth out she was very nervous too but told me afterwards that compared to the pain the bad teeth were causing, the pain after having them removed wasn't too bad at all (with drigs, of course). I hope that you also get great relief from this.
Just think of how great your smile is going to look!

LOL! Lucky you! Never, ever think something is silly. The worse thing they can do is look at you like you're dumb and say 'no', right? So it never hurts to ask. I know you are reading this post-dental...I hope it all went well. Get lots of rest!
Here's a hint-hint to those who are a hard stick with IV's....ask them to put a warm blanket/heat pad on your arm of choice before they go hunting for a vein...the heat helps the nurse to find them.
Also, if you go directly into surgery without an IV (like for your RNY, etc), if you are a hard stick, tell the anesthetist. They can put you to sleep with the mask and then start the IV once you are out. When you're out, your veins pop out better then too. Oh..and say yes to the numbing shot. It REALLY helps if you are one that they have to dig for gold on! I usually have to get stuck 4-7 times each time for an IV so I do every little trick I can think of to help! Trust me, I also drink water the day before like I am going to have to hike across a desert! The more hydrated you are, the better...so drink up as much as you can..well, till midnight anyway!

Misty my hubby just had to have all his teeth pulled back in Feb. He had never had a cavity before so no fillings or extractions before his surgery. He had gum disease that was just too severe to save his teeth. He was so nervous of the unknown but he said it wasn't nearly as bad as he imagined it being. The first day was the worst and his recovery was quite quick, I hope you have the same experience he has had.
