NEED SUGGESTIONS

Jacque,

Your body probably needs some protein, if you've just been eating those things. It's probably begging for some protein and even some carbs. No not alot of carbs, but we need some too. My advice,.. get back to your yellow sheets, back to the basics. If you're having problems with them, make an appointment with the dietician to talk about modifications you can make to make it more palatable.

Are you exercising too? That's important. Try to find something that interests you, and it will be easier to do. I tried personal training with weights, horseback riding, and tap dancing in the first year and a half. (I had to stop those things due to budgetary reasons, but they were fun while they lasted.) Atleast now though, there is a fitness room at my apartment building that i can go and use. I walk my dog daily too.

Protein, protein, protein!!!

You have to just put your mind to it and do it.  Follow your book and eat what it tells you to eat for each meal. For example, so many oz. of protein and starch and fruits and veggies.  I know its hard, but dont let yourself get back into the old habits.  You can do this!

Thank you to everyone for your suggestions.  I really do appreciate all of them.  I found a website that sells some stuff and I am going to try and order some stuff from there.  I did start walking last night and I felt so good about myself that I actually got out there and did it.
Hope everyone has a good day and that you are all feeling well.

Jacque,

Boy was that hard to type!  I wanted to put an "i" instead of "e".  Great name by-the-way

I have a problem getting my protein in too.  I'm just now realizing it.  My weight has stalled and I just don't feel good.  I'm going to post in a few minutes my new plan so feel free to gleen from it.

As for protein suppliments, I use Pure Protein bars.  The smores flavor is my favorite but the strawberry shortcake and blueberry crumbcake are good too.  You get about 19g of protein with them.  I use Muscle Milk Light in chocolate mint flavor.  I buy the huge powder container at GNC but you can get it premixed at Meier.  That's how I tried it at first just to see if I liked it.  It's really yummy.  It has 25g per serving but I mix it with milk to add more protein.  You could mix it with soy milk and increase it too.

I was eating a lot of beans before and plan to get back to doing so.  I found out last night on the food network, from Alton Brown, that lentils and soy beans have almost the same protein structure as meat!  I love lentils!  They are so cheap and easy to fix.  Very easy on digestion too and don't create a lot of gas.

Hope this helps in some way.  We'll get through this together ok?

Smooches,
Jacqui

You have a great name also!  Everyone always wants to spell mine with an "i" instead of "e". Too funny!
Thanks for the suggestions.  Where do you get the pure protein bars?  I might have to try them.  That smores one sounds yummy!  I just know that I am really tired and I need to get my bum in major gear.  I wanted to be at 80lbs by Oct and I don't think I am going to make it.

I get my protein bars at Wal-Mart.  I've only found the smores there though.  The strawberry and blueberry ones you can get at Meijer and GNC.

Let's get our butts in gear!

Took me a while to get back here.  Busy day!

I had my surgery on Oct. 26 of last year.  I'm almost 11 months out!  I can't believe it's almost been a year!  Time has flown by!

If you send me your mailing address, to my email...don't post it here, I'll mail you a protein bar and some of my shake mix to try.  That way you won't have to spend anything to see if you like it or not.  My email is [email protected]

Hey!  I am only about 3.5 weeks out but I am having trouble getting my protein in also.   I have become lactose intolerant.  I have found that if I take some of the Lactaid pills before eating/drinking dairy I can get through it.  No diarhea.  Also, on EggFace's site she has the websites to order samples.  I just ordered a BUNCH of them.  Here are the sited I went to.

I noticed they had a lot of other products also.  You might find some protein snacks you can tolerate also.  GOOD LUCK!  I feel your pain!!!!

thanks for all the suggestions.  I will have to try the lactaid pills.  I bought some lactose free milk last night and tried it and it seemed to be ok for the time being.  It doesn't taste too bad either.
