Carol and Jessica, thanks
Hi just got my husbands lap top back, Jessica thanks for stopping by, sorry I didn't get to see you, Dr.Gupta was running a little behind. I didn't get out of recovery till after seven. The didn't have a bed for me. Carol thank you much for the gifts, how sweet of you.
I am doing ok, I had a little reaction to the pain med so they called me in something different, and although that helped for some reason my chest and face were bright red in the morning. So I haven't taken any pain meds, I just don't want to have another bad reactio.
My biggest problem is the gas, and trying to get up from the laying down postion.
Thanks again to all who have given me there kind words, Tracey

Tracey,
Welcome to the loser's side of things! The more you walk, the better the gas will get. Just don't try to be 'lady-like'...let them rip! It really is true with post-op gas that I'd rather 'bare the shame than bare the pain'!
When getting up, try rolling to your side first....and go slow. When I got home from each of my abdominal surgeries, I stuck to sleeping in the recliner at least until the drain tubes were removed.
I hope they can find something for you for the pain that doesn't cause you to break out. How are you with tylenol? I know that there is liquid vicodin...maybe that would do better for you.
Best of luck!
Sherri

Hi Sherry, I love your message abouth let it rip, lol, I was so looking forward to getting even with my husband, but mine are to quite so he can't hear them, lol, I know TMI, but it was funny when I read you post.
Today is better not having to much problem get up, maybe I will sleep in bed tonight. I am having a hard time getting the protein and liquids in, I still can't believe I can eat two ounces and I am satisfied, hopefully this will last and I won't have to go in for a fill. Thanks, Tracey

Hi Tracey,
I'm sorry we couldn't meet, either! We'll just blame Dr. Gupta. ;-) Hope you and your husband got a little sleep Wednesday night.
I found Gas-X strips that melt in the mouth worked great for the gas, and as Sherri said, walking also helps to work it out.
Don' worry, no one gets their liquid and protein all in right away, but it'll come with time. I didn't do well with the milk recipe provided by the St. V nutritionists, but I liked Isopure, and had one bottle a day for the first 6 weeks.
Hang in there, it'll get easier!
