I was so pleased with the facilities and care I received at St. V's.  My surgery was back in Dec 06, but my daughter had surgery in Dec 05 and in Dec 07 also there.  Some of the nurses even remembered me each time.  Several of the nurses themselves have had WLS so they have first-hand knowledge about what you are going through.   They were very encouraging during the recovery process.  The facility itself was top notch.  The beds and chairs easily accomodated my larger size and made me feel comfortable.  There are even butterflies hanging suspended from the ceilings to mark every 25 feet of walking path.  I would not hesitate to recommend it to someone considering WLS.  I hope this answers your questions.  Are you just considering surgery or do you have a date already?  Karen

Sounds great.  My husband and I are both trying to get surgery scheduled and are scheduled for the first meeting at St V the 22nd of this month.  We really don't know much about the Drs but hubby wants a man and someone with lots of experience so when I looked it up it looks like Huse has the most experience??

I am worried that although I have had tons of weight loss tries, many are not documented so I am worried about the insurance approval.  I have BC of MIchigan but we live in IN so ANthem is the carrier.  They cover it at 100% if we meet the criteria.  BMI is 46 so that will work but lots of co morbidities.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks,  Terry

That place ROCKS!!!!!  Private rooms, I loved that.  Very nice.  The staff was fabulous, I was lucky enough to have the same night shift nurse both nights I was there, she was so sweat and caring.  I never waited any length of time for pain medication, it was little things that she did that showed me how much she cared.  She made me a going home goodie pack....stuffed it full of every flavor of Crystal Light they had on hand, extra sippy cup, baby spoons, dressings, an extra abdominal binder because she got the one I was wearing soiled while emptying my drain tube.

As I did my laps around the unit, everyone was so friendly and encouraging.  Every time I made it back to my room after my laps, my bed was straightened and awaiting me.  The staff was just as accomadating to my hubby, making sure he was comfortable and if he needed something to eat and drink as well.

AWESOME PLACE.

Definitely the BEST in my opinion.

I've been there quite a bit more than most people have and they are just as excited every time they see me (especially when I'm just visiting and not a patient hehe). They're just absolutely wonderful and I only had 1 nurse I had a problem with and when I was supposed to have her for the third night in the row my mom asked my day shift nurse about it and she made sure that I got some one else. Who was just wonderful.

I cannot say enough good things about them. :)

My RNY was my 13th surgery and the first one ever at St. V.  I cannot tell you how great it was.
They treated every person there with respect and care.  I felt like I really was important to them.  It was waaayyyyyy better than my local hospital.  Even the fellow patients on the floor were encouraging each other and very happy to be a walking buddy.  There was never a time during my stay that I had to ask for anything twice.  And just like it was said before,  they were right there to make my bed every time I got out to walk.    The lap boards were fun and a neat part of the process too.  I suggest you make a visit to check it out and you will see what we mean.

It's a great place to start your life over and transform into the new you.

I just had my surgery two weeks ago.  I want to say that I have full confidence in their knowledge and ability to provide me with good care.  However, I had a horrible time with respiratory.  Every time they sent someone in they would change my mask and say the last person was wrong?  My day nurse was great.  My night nurse was a bit harder to love.  I didn't wait for anything.  I have to admit when I wanted something I got it very quickly.  The techs were GREAT!

The rooms are nice and they were good about my husband staying with me.  It's a good place.

St V's Bariatric Wing Rocks!

They are fabulous there.  They help you work through any problem.  They are right there when you are doing well.

I highly recommend it and have many times since my surgery.
