Anyone know where I can find out more information on Protein Calorie Malnutrition and how to know if you have it? I plan on calling my Doctor on Monday but just wanted some input.

Thanks,
Angel

I would just try googling it. I had protein malnutrition after surgery for a bit, because I was having a hard time getting supplements down. Atleast protein malnutrition is the diagnosis Dr. Inman put on the lab orders she sent. My protein was low, and my symptoms were fatigue and hair loss. If you think you're not getting enough protein, call the surgeon's office, because they can do a blood test for that.

Thank you, I think that is what it is and I will call them on Monday for some tests. I just got done with the shakes (14 weeks post-op) but think I'll go back on them for awhile since I am having some trouble getting protein down.
Thanks

Have you tried the AchievOne shakes?? I know they're expensive but I tell you they're a life saver to me. Especially since when it comes to solid foods I feel like my restriction is back at square one since my most recent surgery. I am 13 months out now and I HAVE to supplement protein still and when all the other shakes didn't work for me this has been the golden ticket. Just a suggestion, although you may ask your surgeon about it first.

Also St. Vincen'ts Health Boutique carries some of the nectar protein powders and stuff you may be able to try. Just a thought.
