Day before Surgery question

I was talking to my surgery buddy, a lovely lady that I met at preop testing that is having surgery on the day day & time and at the same hospital. She said that they are having her do shots for bloodclots and they were 320 dollars copay.
Question, do most have to have those shots?
Oh, and she also mentioned taking the day before surgery off because she has to drink this liquid laxative to prepare for surgery. I wasn't given any of that either.  Do most people have to drink that liquid on the day before?

Thanks for all the input to my random questions.

Whether you do shots or not depends on your doctor.  I had to do 5 days of Lovinox.  It wasn't a big deal.  It was one shot per day.  It was part of the post op process.  My insurance covered it.

Any pre op preparation is also at doctor discrection.  I didn't have a laxative.  I ate a normal breakfast, a soft lunch, and a liquid dinner.  It was do able with work, etc.

Check with your doctor a lot of things are at his/her discretion.

Where are you having your surgery?
I had to do the lovenox shots for 14 days after surgery, they are a blood thinner to prevent blood clots.  My copay for them was $80.  I also had to do the colon cleansing, so I would not have been able to work that day.

MY SURGEON HAD ME DO, LIGHT BREAKFAST, CLEAR LIQUD LUNCH AND DINNER...HE HAD ME TO TAKE 4 DULCOLAX AT 4PM....MY SURG WAS THE NEXT MORNING AT 730AM..
MY GIRLFRIEND HAD SURGERY ON THE THIRD AND HER SURGEON DID NOT REQUIRE HER TO DO ANY LAXATIVES OR COLON CLEANSERS..

AS FOR LOVENOX, I HAD TO TAKE FROM DAY TWO IN HOSPITAL, AND THEN AT HOME FOR A WEEK... THEY SENT THEM HOME WITH ME FROM THE HOSPITAL.....SO MINE WERE INCLUDED IN HOSPITAL COSTS....

EVERY SURGEON IS DIFFERENT..AND THINGS CHANGE IN THE BARIATRIC WORLD RATHER QUICKLY, SOMETHING THAT SOMEONE HAD TO DO OR COULD HAVE A MONTH AGO...COULD BE DIFFERENT THEN WHAT YOU ARE TOLD IN YOUR CLASSES OR BOOKS.... EXAMPLE..MASHED POTATOES, UP UNTIL LJANUARY OF THIS YEAR THEY WERE ACCEPTABLE INT THE FIRST FOUR WEEKS AND WERE IN THE BOOK, BUT NOW(AT ST. V'S) THEY REMOVED THEM STATING THAT SOME SURGEONS FOUND THEM TO CONTAIN TOO MANY CARBS...BUT THE NUT. AND MY SURGEON TOLD ME THAT I COULD HAVE THEM BECUASE IM ONLY EATING AN OZ OR TWO(INSTANT/FLAVORED)...AS LONG AS I AM NOT EATING THEM FOR EVERY SINGLE MEAL!!!...
SO JUST CHECK WITH YOUR SURGEON ON SOME THINGS...MOST ARE THE SAME, BUT JUST FOLLOW YOUR SURGEONS ORDERS...GOD LOVES U GURL!!!
